Hope it's just as affordable!

is that a typo? never heard of any announcement from them?

Nice find! i googled AF-S NIKKOR 50mm F/1.8G and it gives 35mm F/1.8G!

Physically indistinguishable from the 1.4G.

big bright white dot on lens mount

Chances are it will be as affordable as 35 f/1.8 or slightly more... so that DX bodies without built in motor (5100, 5000, 3100, 3000, etc) can appreciate it... Nothing weird about that. :) Sensible some more... Fx cum Dx lens... killing two birds with one stone.

wow...how could this new lens replace the old 50mm f1.8 which is already cheap and good? Maybe this would be great for bodies without the AF screw.

a new G version without aperture ring to reduce cost should be cheaper due to its lesser construct...or more expensive? less for more?

replacement for 50mm f/1.8D?

hope this replacement will be better than the AF-D version... and the price tag nt too much of an increase too :bsmilie:

We can only hope it doesn't cost too much. Chances are some where around the price of 35 f1.8 if there's anything to go by. Hopefully not more than 50 f1.4D, since it's only 1.8. But hard to say. Given aspherical element, and rounded 7 blades hopefully the bokeh will be pleasing. Won't know until one tests it under field conditions. All boils down to the handling of CAs, no donuts n onion peels please! We appreciate freebies but not these! :bsmilie:

The web page has been removed !

If this is true... its MTF proves excellent result.. should be the sharpest 50mm in nikkor lineup

Too bad I bought the f/1.4G already, this lens is sharper and with the asp glass, should have less distortion too. Will the f/1.4G drop price, I think so.

i dont think there will be much of a "price drop" for 50 f/1.4G ba.
