My wishlist

1. Have a detachable 3 inch LCD screen with shutter button, aperture and shutter speed control, review and drive mode change. Also able to attach it to the flash for easier change of off camera lighting options for single photographers without assistants. This lcd screen can be paired up to the camera by a certain numbering system but can allow other lcd screens to see this camera’s view point also for video or still directing capability. This is an extension of the Wifi capability of most pro camera already available.
This detachable screen allows
a) ability to have super street shooting capability, nobody will be aware of being taken. Good for journalists and parents.
b) allows model to hold and review the shots being taken by photographer
c) self shot capability
c) really low, high, side and maybe new and unexplored angles to be exploited
d) allow better face to face interaction with models so photographers can get more genuine smiles and behaviour shots such as children
e) great teaching tool as everyone with a lcd screen will be able to see the shot
f) great for long exposure scenery and tripod shots as there will be no touching the camera to eliminate shake as settings and shutter is off camera
g) camera manufacturers to sell more accessories

2. have a focus assist lighting system that can be extended snakelike out of the camera body as an option. This allows for better lighting options for a photographer that may need to shoot in dark conditions but need to use the flash off camera. Better still to have the modelling light on the flash being able to be used for focus assist also when off camera.

3. have radio wireless TTL flash capabilties interaction with the off camera lighting options for their own flashes with ability to have modelling lights of LED type only on when shutter button is half pressed, not the irritating flashes that is the norm now. Present systems uses infrared flashes for communication but they are affected by bright sunlight and needs line of sight.
Radio wireless TTL is already available with a lot of third party add-ons like Pocket wizards and Radio Poppers but they cost.

4. have AAA or AA batteries options so as to eliminate the hassle and weight of carrying a camera battery charger and AA/AAA charger at the same time.

5. when the camera is in different modes, have the camera signal it by different color LED lights on the outer camera casing so you know that you are in sports mode ( red ), portrait mode ( yellow ) or custom mode (purple). This can be expanded to other qualities that may be useful to the photographer.

Great ideas. Especially the LCD

My wishlist

...

1. Medium format sensor.

2. ISO of 1million.

3. Shutter speed 1/1million.

4. All lenses pro-built and less than $500.

And the most important part... all in a package for a price less than S$1000.

I want per pixel ISO and sensor shutter control, coupled with touchscreen LCD. The camera should be smart enough to analyze the scene in realtime and divide the screen into general different tonal regions. I can then decide which ISO or shutter duration to set for which portion of the scene. Eg: For the same shutter speed... sky too bright. Touch and set to ISO100. Foreground too dark? Touch and set to ISO800. An alternative to GND and bracketing. All regions will be marked in absolute EVs to save time.

For something more realistic, RAW histograms and panoramic mode (to match up adjacent shots) would be welcomed.
:)

i think i just want... to be able to shoot better.

having contraptions like that don't make a better photographer. it helps achieve the shot, but it doesn't help with the basics

Hear! Hear! Aiyah... if merely by paying money, you can get a super-duper AI-enabled camera that takes the perfect shot by a simple press of the button then no fun already leh...

Instead of a better camera... I want the following,

1) More time (So I can take a course or something, go abroad for a shoot)
2) More money (So I can take a course or something, upgrade my lens, go abroad for a shoot)
3) More friends interested in photography (so we can exchange tips and stuff like that).
4) More place in my room

a) ability to have super street shooting capability, nobody will be aware of being taken. Good for journalists and parents.

You mean perverts who leave the camera in the girl's changing room while viewing from a safe distance.

b) allows model to hold and review the shots being taken by photographer

Not her business. The model has no need to review the shots. And paying customers would prefer seeing it on a big screen, not some detachable little one.

c) self shot capability

We already have this with current tilting LCDs.

c) really low, high, side and maybe new and unexplored angles to be exploited

We already have this with current tilting LCDs.

d) allow better face to face interaction with models so photographers can get more genuine smiles and behaviour shots such as children

The screen won't help here. This is just a lack of personality.

e) great teaching tool as everyone with a lcd screen will be able to see the shot

already possible with current tethering technology.

f) great for long exposure scenery and tripod shots as there will be no touching the camera to eliminate shake as settings and shutter is off camera

It's called mirror lock up and timer. Been in place for many many many years.

g) camera manufacturers to sell more accessories

You mean more costs for CSers to complain about, and run to a DSLR brand which does not cost so much.

2. have a focus assist lighting system that can be extended snakelike out of the camera body as an option. This allows for better lighting options for a photographer that may need to shoot in dark conditions but need to use the flash off camera. Better still to have the modelling light on the flash being able to be used for focus assist also when off camera.

What's wrong with the current AF assist light / IR beams from the flash? My camera has no focusing problems. Also would need to redesign flashes to contain a normal bulb.

3. have radio wireless TTL flash capabilties interaction with the off camera lighting options for their own flashes with ability to have modelling lights of LED type only on when shutter button is half pressed, not the irritating flashes that is the norm now. Present systems uses infrared flashes for communication but they are affected by bright sunlight and needs line of sight.

Radio wireless TTL is already available with a lot of third party add-ons like Pocket wizards and Radio Poppers but they cost.

...and you think that building this in would make it cheaper? No, it would make things much much more expensive, radio poppers would still be cheaper. Also, you would need to redesign all flashes to include a normal bulb.

4. have AAA or AA batteries options so as to eliminate the hassle and weight of carrying a camera battery charger and AA/AAA charger at the same time.

Most cameras already do, either in the grip or in the body itself (like pentax)

5. when the camera is in different modes, have the camera signal it by different color LED lights on the outer camera casing so you know that you are in sports mode ( red ), portrait mode ( yellow ) or custom mode (purple). This can be expanded to other qualities that may be useful to the photographer.

Bling bling LED lights are supposed to be useful??? No thank you!!! Besides, most photographers who have learned the basics will not use "sports" or "portrait" modes. PASM and RAW is the way to go.

Remote LCD is already available. I know some birders using it.

I want a camera with a snake inside so when someone tries to steal my camera, the snake will come out and bite them !

How about a camera that reads your mind so you just have to think of the image you want in your head and the camera moves itself and your flashes and shoots away? :bsmilie:

The more technology take over, the lesser the skill to shoot good photos.

Lousier photographers become better.

Better photographers find it harder to be better and differentiate themselves.

In total there would be more beautiful photos for the whole world to see.

Good or bad?

much much nicer pics. forces people to push boundaries.

bad, professionalism will take a back seat. prices of professional photography will drop. good for consumers, but u'd get photographers who own the latest cameras but nothing in their rice bowls

Is you think dirty lah! And I never said the camera would strip the model's clothings lor, I just said it would adjust the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, flash distance, flash zoom, flash power mah. It won't change the state of the subject/object you shoot.

Update, the samsung Sh100 camera can send pictures to wifi enabled computers, even when they are switched off as most have Wake-on-Lan, it can be controlled by the Samsung galaxy S Android smartphone for remote viewing, zooming, shooting and gps tagging.
