Dear bros, supposedly I were to get the D7000 body what lens would you guys recommend apart from the 50mm. probably a everyday zoom lens coz I really dont like the kit lens.

NIKON 10-24
NIKON 24-70 f2.8

You should try all these lenses mentioned... Reason is because d7k is slighty on the light weighted side, hence you might feel a little imbalance when mounting these heavy duty lenses.

I did mount both the n17-55 and n24-70 on a d7000 before.... It's falling off up in its front.

However, the kit lens 18-105 feels just right.

Remember to buy also a good neck strap ...

Thank you all very much for your valuable opinions. Beth how do you rate the 18-105 lens?

you r comparing a $300 lens to a $2000+ ... what do you think??

But there are pple who took very nice picture with just kit lens.

Is the kit lens that bad? I am using it. Don't find any fault with it. But then i am a newbie and i don't have the chance to try those F2.8 17-55 or 17-50 lens yet....

Kit lens is pretty gd actually.. Esp the 18-105.
But this is human mah.. U wan better & better stuff. Want F1.4 Prime.. then want F2.8 Zoom.. Then F2.8 Telephoto.. etc ;)

Nikon 17-55 f2.8
Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM

Also, imo a blackrapid strap works better than a neck strap, as the weight distribution is much better. The weight is distributed across your body, unlike a neck strap which either strains your neck or one shoulder depending on how you sling the camera.

the kit lens 18-105 is a very good lens... i too keep a copy... the lens is contrasty and sharp wide open... the only let down is the plastic mount and the mini focus length.. If the mount can be change to metal mount i believe this is one of the best nikon kit lens for walk about...

The plastic mount is actually quite durable, my 18-135 which is the kit lens for my old D80 has a plastic mount and after all this time, the mount is still nice and firm, just a few scratches that's all.

in the first place, what makes u not like the kit lens? becos its a kit lens? becos u see people upgrading?

Sorry to deviate a bit ah,

Anywhere to get nice looking cool neck strap?
