Most souvenirs you can find here are kinda tacky unless they're ridiculously expensive with a 'designer label'. Maybe you should buy them ready to make Singaporean fare so they can try making it themselves? Or buy something from Creative for them? :bsmilie: "made in Singapore" pffthahaha.. I'm sorry I don't think about our culture and traditions!

Haha ... I find food tough(er) to buy for someone, especially Caucasian. Not sure exactly of food preferences
Bought vacuum-packed bak kwa just recently to Japan for my friends. To which I naively declared to customs
The guy shook his head apologetically and seemingly reluctantly put his index fingers into an X to tell me that's a no-no and had to be confiscated
Then again I've bought chicken rice chilli from Boon Tong Kee before...

little live orchid seedlings sold in tubes at the Botanical Gardens Orchid Garden gift shop not bad too..... can be cultivated to full adult size
Some are certainly not cheap, can be from a few $k to a few hundred $k
but its like comparing a BMW or Audi with a Toyota, your buying good craftmanship and asthetics.

Made a trip to TWG and got a box of Singapore Breakfast Tea, packaging is pretty decent
The Orchid Garden seedlings sound really cool, but live plants probably can't simply be brought in to any country, can they?
Oh yeah the pandan cakes, my colleague buys boxes of that from Bengawan Solo everytime she goes home, says they're very well-received???

the Tonkat Ali 3-in-1 coffee+ginseng+Tongkat Ali is some powerful stuff from Gold Choice and Nescafe

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:...i bought a few of this back to singapore from my hometown of kuching...some of the flavour not sold in singapore especially the nescafe one...very well received by singaporean frens..now every year have to buy when go back cny :sweat::sweat:
