You want cheaper or more expensive than pelican.

If you want cheaper, can go for "wonderful". Sold by Cathay also.

Pelican sounds nice however can someone enlighten me where is the best place to get them?was thinking of getting the 1510 model from adorama which gonna set me back ard $370 after conversion..will it be cheaper to buy it locally?

What are the prices of wonderful though?

No one uses hard cases here?

my guess is that they have yet to see the need for one or several.

going one round today to see the options available.

I have a few Pelican cases. 2 big ones, 3 small ones and 1 even smaller one for small things. It really depends how much stuff you want to put in it? This is for storage or to move around with you gear?

something like the 1650 for storage would be nice but right now mainly looking for a briefcase type but something like the 1510 could work.

my usage dont really need the waterproofing and such as long tough enough to protect the contents from point A to B.

Before, I have used the 1450, for storage when first starting out. Quite portable too, can fit a 70-200 f4 "vertically" [short side of case]. 40D to the side, plus another 85 f/1.8, cables & spare batts, filters and stuff.

My current storage is a wheelie, 1564 with padded dividers. It is much easier taking stuff out and putting them back. Wheels and pull-out handle is good too.

Hard cases like Pelicans are quite "standard", there are not much quality issues. And the prices reflect this. It is not cheap, but you get a good product.

If unsure, just go around a few stores that sell them (JO 3:16 & others). Have a look and feel, then go to the Pelican official website to check the dimensions so that you have an idea what can fit inside. You need to give it some allowance.

After using Pelicans for quite a few years, if I were to buy my next one, I would be very price sensitive. If Adorama gives a good price including freight to SIN [you also need to factor in 7% GST, unless below the Customs threshold amount. I cannot remember the figure, maybe S$350 or something]

BTW, if using for storage, please don't forget to put silica gel inside. The trapped air is humid here in Singapore, although the seals are waterproof.

Good luck in your search.
