580EX II for Macro

Hi,

Izzit 580exii external flash not suitable for macro photography ?
I tried this flash with DIY diffuser on 100mm macro lens.
for distant 15cm and above, the light nicely diffuse, but when
i very close to the subject, it cannot diffuse and picture come
out very dark.

Any sifu suggestion ?

what setting did you use?

Could it be because ur lens is casting a shadow on ur subject since u are shooting so close?

i'm using 580EXII w/ garyFong bowl. work great on macro too.:thumbsup:
