What kind of DSLR should I get?

Hello! Im interested in photography & would like to own a DSLR.
Basically, I just wanna camwhore with it, and to take random photos.... when I feel like it.
But then again, I know nuts about DSLRs. one thing for sure: I'm not gonna go for the high-end ones ($$$$).
Soooooooo, any recommendations on which brand/model should I get?

NOTE: my main concern isn't if it is good for camwhoring or not. It's the quality of the images produced & the worth of the pricing.

Camwhore, hmm mayb the sony NEX series might suits you since it is small and light in weight

I don't mind second-hand ones because Im not really good at keeping things in good condition either (hehe)...
Do u think a 2nd hand canon 450D is worth $600? Someone's selling it at that price...
Considering I only need it for camwhoring etc.

nikon 3100 if u are keen to learn taking nice pixs and addin lenses, flashes as u progress. else a panasonic gf2 or sony nex 3 or 5

Im currently owning that camera.. But i think the quality is still not as good. Thats why Im looking for a second-hand DSLR.

DSLRs are generally not camwhore friendly. Too bulky and the grip isn't designed for aiming the camera at yourself. You'll end up twisting your wrist and hurting your arms and all that good stuff

True, but the quality is definitely better(???).
I actually like taking abstract photos but I can't do that with my current compact camera without having e flash create some weird shadows and stuffs.
& I like how I can control the focus thingy with DSLRs... Haha, idk how to explain myself but u get me.

I think what you are referring to is shallow depth of field. If you want to take "random photos" and snapshots of people, any DSLR with a big aperture will get you there, probably a standard lens.

Anything from f1.2 - f2.8 generally, of course the bigger the better.

That depends on the lens that you buy. A 50mm f/1.8 might cost 100-150.

For camwhoring, I suggest you buy a Sony A33. You can swivel the screen so it faces you, and it has very fast autofocus, smile shutter, etc.

Brand new? About 900-920. Best to go to SLR revo at Funan, or MS color in AMK.

How about Panasonic LX5 or Canon S95? Small enough for you to keep in your bag. Just shoot in RAW format and it gives u a lot of flexibility to edit your photos...

Camwhoring and "whenever I feel like it" shots generally means no desire to edit... Hence wanting better pics straight out of cam.
