Hi brudders,

I got a request from friends to help to do blogshop shooting.
Is any one know what is the market rate for this kind of shooting?
What is the normal hour rate? is $200 per hour consider entry level rate ?

Thanks a lot !

It will be depend on the complexity of the shoot and if any post production work involve.

The thing with charge is, take it if you are comfortable with it.

Regards,

Hart

market rate is foc. so far all approach me asks for foc. cite good for portfolio blah blah...mostly aimed at students.

$200/ hr?
not sure how many clothes they need to sell then can cover your cost :bsmilie:

I read somewhere in local online classified ads, photographer offering $35 per hour for blogshop shooting, including studio plus pau suah pau hai.

ha seems like these blogshop owners are better business people than some photographers. They know how to minimize their cost and yet get maximum returns.

from a photo business pt of view, my advice is to charge by per item based on how many photos they need for each item. Factor in post processing time, DVD/CD, studio rental, transport and equipment costs and you will probably have a good idea what rates to charge.

try not to get into the trap of "for your portfolio" , "long term partnerships", "low budget". Remember if you charge low now and it will be hard to charge high again:) For such blogshop owners, advise them to use the photos used by their suppliers :)

CHarge them when they are really serious about their business.
Sometimes, very hard to say if they really serious but usually they will find low baller again and that is when the photography business drop. We forgotten that we are actually taking for their advertising. Example, Student wanted to go into blogshop business but having limited fund or tight budget. This is where we really need to advice them if they are serious about this business. If they are, they dont mind taking up the price that you state as they know this is their investment. So stay away from FOC if possible as photography services will never be always FOC.

Indeed. Its a decent price.
Do ur best to prolong the shoot. 4-5 hours should be a good benchmark. :D

ya they will tell you it is good for your portfolio... ask you to pay for the studio... you find a mua who is willing to offer tfcd, and yet they still want to pick, and you are the central point of contact for everything... they won't call you (save $ ?? ), so you got to call them (how to communicate using sms alone right?).. sigh....

i once encounter one tfcd request (not blogshop), and she wants a shoot for her and her boyfriend, and she told me that it is usually the photographer who will bear the cost of the studio... but my birthday is not yesterday ....

well really feel like saying that to her.. but i try to control myself... i merely told her that i have no budget for such, as i have spent quite an amount on my equipment already..

eye opening for me really.. haha..

OT a bit,
I was told by a junior photographer, he responded to a thread of model looking for TFCD for couple, model ask him is he driving? he replied no, and no reply from the model since than.
