Acrylic Ice Cubes

Sharing this with the photographers here..

I remember stumbling across a thread from a member looking for cheap acrylic ice cubes here(because i was searching high and low for some too).. I finally found mine after more then 6mths of searching.. now to continue with my project..

$2 for a pack of 19 small acrylic ice cubes from Daiso(under the gardening section - the cubes are decorations for pots i think). I went to the Daiso outlet at Rivervale Mall. Cheers.

Product photography....they use these cubes instead of real ice cubes since real ice cubes melt fast.

the advantage over real ice cube is that it doesn't melt and most importantly it doesn't create condensation, which in some instance is a problem. the draw back is that most fake ice cubes don't float... so you have to fill the whole glass with the fake ice cube to make it realistic.

Actually, there are fake ice cubes in the market that floats.. but I still can't find it here in Singapore.. and importing a packet of 5 floating cubes is over 25usd when I last checked. :bheart:

Hmm... I use them before its $25 to $30 a piece in 1981 and then after shooting wash,dry and pack individually in cotton to prevent scratch, its very ex in those day, but really beautifully made some, have bubbles and air trap tubular shape. Don't know where I lost them :embrass:

I got mine cheap from a $2 shops. Mine is made of glass. I think they are for ornaments.

They don't look as good as the specially made prop ice cubes. But they are good enough for what I use them for.
