Last night I came back home, when I came out of the car, I accidentally dropped my iphone 4g onto the ground, phone's screen landed on the ground. Went to retrieve it and the screen shatters... It's like less than 2 weeks old. No choice but just reserved a iphone 4 to be replaced later at a starhub shop.. Replacement is $350 for a brand new phone.

SO guys, pls be careful of your iphone, it's very fragile..

U can get the screen replaced at repair shops.....last time I cracked my iPhone 3G screen, cost me less than $100, supposedly they used original apple parts.

a sissy phone . a phone more for the ladies ..

Any mobile phones that are dropped on the floor from a decent height is not going to be in good shape, iPhones included. If one is careless on his/her equipment, I don't think it can last long even if it survived the first round of hard knocks. So do be careful with your own equipment.

Actually any phones with a glass display is very likely to crack or shatter on impact, due to the inherent characteristics of glass. One advantage is its high resistance to scratch, u dont need a screen protector! :)

You're not alone--there are numerous reports like that on the interwebs. iPhone 4 is notoriously known for a less durable screen. I have dropped my 3gs (and 3gs before that) at my height and suffered no damage--except for minor scratches on the body not on the screen. iPhone 4 has a different story.

Now, do Hercules have screen protectors for iphones ?

Sheesh. You can get the screen replaced at shops for 150. Don't have to wait for Starhub's long delays.

not sure, but just got mine replaced at Starhub. They told me to go by the Platinum Club as my monthly plan was the highest end and got it replaced less than 1/2 hr.

Paid $350 for a 1 to 1 exchange.

I dropped my old sony erricson phone anywhere and it's still working fine for 2 years of non-usage... can't help but I have oso heard from many of my friends bricking their iphone via accidental drop etc.;p

I have dropped my phone twice from waist level but thankfully it was in a silicone case and it landed face up. :)

My blackberry Torch slammed onto the floor from my table, it was ok. Blackberry phones are durable.

Depends on the surface on the ground... If hard concrete, iphone glass lcd sure goner....

Hmm my previous SE phones always had problems with the screens (huge patch of dead pixels) after I drop a few times, but maybe it's cuz I dropped many times lol :bsmilie:

worth a note that the iPhone4's screen is made OUT OF GLASS. do not drop it.. heh that being said, i do drop my phones a lot, and am considering getting it.

and another point to take note, that my current Nokia N86's screen is made of GLASS as well, according to Nokia. however i've dropped it so many times on the screen YET NOTHING SHATTERS. barely any scratches either even though i don't use a screen protector.

steve jobs thanks you for giving him even more money by selling you a lousy product.

On a different note, I once tried to break a tempered glass door with a sledge hammer. The hammer bounce off the glass and its still intact. But when I use a small hammer and gently tap on the edge, it shattered to million pieces.

It all about the point of impact to break a glass.

I think you're just lucky that the drop didn't get the critical part of the mobile phone that's all.

The screen protector is quite thick and you might not be able to use the touch screen after applying it:sweat:

sounds true...:thumbsup::thumbsup:
