Hi to all,

Newbie here and hoping to get some inputs in from IR peeps around here.

I am enthusiast and simply amazed with IR photos that I saw here and that is the reason why I want to try out the IR photography.

Currently I owned tokina 12-24mm F4 but I do not know if it is good to use in IR.

For the body I'm planning to buy 2nd hand D50 or D70 which they said is good for IR but I do not know who can sombody help me to modify and convert to IR.

thank you.

No need to invest in converting the camera. Just bring a tripod and use the long exposure method.

@Francis247 and allenleonhart, thank you for the links... it'll be useful for me

@Rashkae, thank you. maybe I need a dedicated body for IR, for some reason, I dont want to shoot long exposure specially if the subject is moving...

another newbie question, is there anyone encounter the hotspot issue when the body is modified combined with tokina UWA?

Thank you guys for the inputs

mm. refer to the first link from my post, on regards to what u wanna use to convert. i suggest u join up one of the outings with us. if u want, i dun mind sharing my 350d with ya, so u have a feel of how is it like to shoot ir handheld.

but my recommendation is still use a screw on filter first. hot spotting, go check out the thread we have at the IR forum on what causes it. we wont know until we tried. reckons u buy a screw on filter to test, citiwide is good brand. the hotspotting wont change as far as i tested using both filter and modified cam

You could always rent an IR camera first. see if it's really your thing rather than investing so much $$$ in a conversion.

Just ask bros here...

If I'm not using my Goldie IR A230 over the weekend, I'd rent it out.
