At the heart of Nikon is a Sony

nothing new... nikon has been using sony sensor for a very long time...

It doesn't matter anyway, since most of the Nikon user already know that Nikon has an affiliation with Sony on sensor...

It doesn't come as a surprise :)

It doesn't matter because you can have the same sensor, but how you process the raw data is the thing that makes the difference ;)

ya lor, everyone have brains, just how we use it only mah.

Just take it as a raw component. The main processor and the algorithm to process the pictures matter more than the hardware.
It all boils down to how they make full use of the sensor and then manipulate and process the end pictures!

Its not surprise, Nikon has been using Sony sensor for a long time and why not? Sony makes good sensors

A manufacturer has limited resources and is dependent on others to produce its products which consist of many components or parts in the making of its products.

Just that the history is interesting lor... Nikon began life as a lens manufacturer for Canon. When Nikon had their own camera range, Canon kicked them out. Nikon's first digital cameras were in partnership with Kodak. Now they use Sony sensors, but then Sony launched their own DSLR range. Some forums I have seen says "no pride solution." Well, we shall see... will the new Sony 24MP APS-C sensor be used in the D400? The saga continues...

No secret.

Tamron makes some lenses for Sony
Fuji uses Nikon bodies (s2 pro is a Nikon F80 fused with fuji sccd sensor)
Carl Zeiss makes high end lenses for Sony.
Tokina makes some lenses for Pentax
Tokina makes all filters for kenko and hoya using Hoya glass.
Heliopan and rodenstock filters all came from the same manufacturer.
And the list goes on...

Sometimes makes you wonder why some people see 3rd party no up.

Actually Nikon began life making all sorts of lenses for all sorts of applications including microscopes. Later canon contracted them to make lenses for the early canon cameras. Nikon is after all founded way before canon.

And Sony did not launch their own Dslr. They bought it from Konica Minolta. They just rebranded it and improved it in later model iterations.

What "saga" are you talking about? I see no dramatic story going on here:dunno:

you mean 'fact', right?

Well, I would consider the Alpha range to be different enough from the ol' Konica-Minolta DSLRs... perhaps 'major rebranding and re-invigoration' is more appropriate? ;)

but anyway best not to stir trouble...
