Hi all, i know there have been many threads on this.. but i was just wondering..

1) Are you using a dry cabinet or box?
2) Where did you get your dry cabinet or dry box?\
3) How big is your cabinet or box?
4) If you are using a box, you put thirsty hippo inside?
5) If you are using a cabinet, what can you fit in it with the size you have?

Thanks.. Really not sure which and where to get...:dunno:

1) Dry cabinet
2) Gf bought for me as christmas gift ;)
3) 60L
4) -
5) body, 6-7 lens (i dont own tele zooms) , accesories, filters, some other stuff. Big enough.

Hi, I had the same questions when I recently started with this hobby. No worries, everyone has his first time. I have decided and bought a dry cabinet. There is no right or wrong but it is a long term solution and requires less attention. :)

I would recommend a dry cabinet for a more hassle-free experience.
What size to get depends on what you intend to store inside. Think about how many lenses you intend to get in the medium to long-term.
You might want to store other things in there, things that also require a dry environment :)

1) switch from box to cabinet, cos too lazy to keep changing silica gel
2) reddot website
3) 50L
4) silica gel, charcoal pouch (used for 11mths)
5) if i place 50D body + 18-200mm kit + 50mm + flash all on 1 tray, i will still have 2 empty trays

1) Are you using a dry cabinet or box?
Now Dry Cabinet.

2) Where did you get your dry cabinet or dry box?\
Dry Cabinet from Ms Color. Used to use a simple box from IKEA

3) How big is your cabinet or box?
30L more then enough. Can put 5 lens, 2 bodies and a flash

4) If you are using a box, you put thirsty hippo inside?
Yes.

5) If you are using a cabinet, what can you fit in it with the size you have?
Yes. It saves more storage space compared to have box. Dry cabinet makes your equipment more organized.

I actually have 2 lens which i mount one on my dslr body.. the other is a 50mm which is rather small.. cabinet sounds good but the box saves up some space..

hope to hear from more ppl! looks like none using box?

I kinda have the same thing as you.. Dry Cabi really sounds like a much better solution.. hmmm...

i personally think it sure is.. all you've got to do is switch on the power and put your stuffs in (and do some adjustments if it's analog).. after that, there's no need to worry about anything else (like when to change gel etc.)..

1) Dry cabinet
2) AIPO, got it from the Mass Order Thread here
3) 38L but wish i had gotten a bigger one like 50L
4) Don't use thirst hippo, first of all there'll be no more space for ur equipment, but ore importantly, it turns to liquid n risk leakage, costly, and absorption too strong.
5) My 38L enought for my D90, 18-105mm, 50mm and 10-24mm plus some space for for 1 more lens and flash and abit of small accessories

I was happily using dry box for years...;p
just that you would need to be prudent to check your humidity/silica gel top-ups etc...
Cheap and good....though I have changed to dry cab as dry box has not enough capacity after I got myself a 80-200mm which is rather big...before that, I was putting in the box a D70 with sigma 17-70mm on, 200mm f4, 50mm f1.4, 135mm f2.8, 1 teleconverter, tamron 28-300mm -> max I can squeeze by arranging them properly... I would not have change if not for the bigger 80-200mm f2.8.:bsmilie:

That's interesting to hear! I'll consider my options.. Was thinking of the 30L digi cabi.. Seems big enough for what I have and I dont really have intentions for more lens.. Hmmm.. Haven seen a dry box that I really like though.. Tot of finding a transparent type.. Haha.. Where did you get your dry box? The black one from challenger is ugly! ;p

oops...mine's the standard "ugly" one...
transparent type...do you mean you wana get Lock-lock, hygrometer and silica gel and make your own? tt will be more ex and time consuming to buy different stuffs at good price...just get the standard black one from Ms colours/Mustafa/Challenger..MS colours selling for $23 only...

If you see yourself getting more lenses in coming months etc...go ahead and get a 50L or larger dry cab.

thanks for the recommendation! the box is tempting due to the price i must say.... haha..

Besides, cam body and lens, I also keep tapes and watches in the dry cabi. I would suggest to get a bigger capacity (>50l) dry cabi for long time investment.
