hi there....

just to enquire here...

which do u think is better? in terms of picture quality, lenses, user friendly?

nikon d90 or canon 60d??

Lenses are comparable, equally as good. User friendliness is totally up to you. 60D is a newer camera with newer sensor. (have you considered the D7000? About the same price as a 60D)

Just a warning though, you might get some comments you won't be too happy about.

what comment u mean?

im still thinking either one...

cause kinda confuse which is ideal and better?

Usually, Canon VS Nikon threads don't end too well for the TS. I think you should compared Nikon D7000 with Canon 60D. It would be a fairer comparison as the D90 is an older generation camera. Have you actually held either one of the cameras? Sometimes once you hold it, you will know which one suits you more.

Go to the shops and test hands on there. There is no ideal camera, you have to make compromises everywhere. Finally, your skills will have more impact on the pictures.
Also, you don't need to start threads for all possible comparisons: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=835632
Read through this guide, read reviews, make yourself familiar with the technical terms, finally: make your own decision. We can help with specific questions, no issue. But such genereic questions about various models will not yield any clear answer. Too many options, too many personal preferences involved.

u might also want to check out the Pentax K-5

60D is probably better compared to the D7000 and K5 in terms of model lineage.

Perhaps the 60D and D90 are closer in price?

Here is the ImagingResource comparator.
Compare the various models (60D, D7000, K5, Kr, D90, D550, etc); decide for yourself :)

isnt k5 a semi-pro lvl cam like the d300s and 7d?

60D is placed below 7d fyi.

d90 is cheaper than the 60D, and 60D is cheaper than d7000.

Don't forget to read the reviews. There are dozens online, you can read, research and compare to your heart's content.

It's somewhere there... Canon and Nikon just happen to have enough money to segment all the markets even further.

TS, just a kind reminder to avoid those bad reputation shops and do your homework on the pricing before buying. Make sure you test the cam and lens before payment hor, else will see you start a new thread later. :bsmilie:
If you have friends who are already into this hobby, ask them along. ;)

What difference does such market segmentation make to the person who is paying?
Nothing.

These are all marketing terms.
So long as the camera model gives the best bang for buck in his/her opinion. that is the most important for the end user.
