Do you keep yours in the Dry-Cabi...??

Welcome for more suggestions, ideas and any alternatives and the pro and cons...Tia:)

Well, since fungus do grow on waterproof cameras as well so i guess the dry cabinet is still a better idea. As long as you keep it at 45%, the rubber parts should not harden or crack.

Think better u rinse it thoroughly before keeping it wherever u want. That will be more important, esp if the camera comes into contact with saltwater...

If you basically use the waterproof camera at sea then a simple rinse of the remanent salt deposit is advisable to prevent corrosion. However if you use the camera in the swimming pool, do make sure that you wash out all the pool water as the chlorine will definitely damage the rubber seals more than the dry cabinet.

Like all camera dear to you...put them in the dry cabinet for long term storage. RH35%-RH45% recommended.

why don't just put it into a dark container filled with water since it is waterproof . . . no worries for fungus as well as cracking too . . . :)

Sorry, not trying to be funny, but just giving suggestion.

I don't think it should be an issue if you keep it around 45% RH.

Yes, same thoughts as well, basically...:)

Thanks for your suggestions/contributions:cool:

Ha ha... u may not get fungus... but u will have slime growing on your camera instead ;)

I been keeping my oly waterproof cam in the dry cabinet for 2 yrs+ when I not using it. RH kept at around 43~46%. It has follow me to a couple of overseas trips and using in sea or swimming pool. so far so good. :)

Of coz like what some of the CSers mention, do rinse and dry it throughly with plain water before keeping it...

When you said waterproof cameras, are they P&S? Haven't come across waterproof DSLR.

If P&S, isn't it overkill to get dry cabi for it?

Yes, should have made clear in my very 1st-post...:embrass:

Anyway, I know not much about waterproof P&S/DSLR(<- if it exists...:dunno:...)

Thiswill be rather true, perhaps. But.....,

On the other hand, I do have some DSLRs + afew Nikkor lenses and some accessories, hence not so bad...:)

Thanks once again, to all those contributed:thumbsup::cheers::)

1. wash and soak the whole outfit in a pail of water with a couple of teaspoons of plain vinegar to reduce mineral residues leftovers after it dries

2. if there are O-rings , make sure they are properly lubricated first

thread moved to Underwater Photography section for more help

First and foremost, I'd like to Thank You for moving this thread of mine to the most appropriate Section...(I should've thought of it...:embrass:)

Well, it's great to learned about your point no.1:thumbsup: and will definitely take this measures...;)

As for the 'O-rings' things I really know nuts about it...was thinking could it be the sliding-cover rollers/ball-bearings things you were referring to...?

Please, enlighten me.

Billion Thanks in advance.

He is referring to the rubber band like thingy on ur underwater housing. Normally found near the opening of the underwater housing. If u r using those waterproof camera like oly without housing, it may not apply.
