The end of buying rechargable batteries for flash?

Was shopping, when I saw this charger At Homefix that can enable alkaline batteries to be recharged!!! Not sure if this is stale news to some already, but I was quite interested in the charger. Have a read .... www.battizer.com :cool:
 

Rechargeable alkalines are nowhere near rechargeable NiMHs.

Besides, the extent to which alkaline batteries can be recharged is solely dependent on the chemistry of the reactants in the cell. For most alkaline cells, the chemical reaction is almost not possible to reverse under any means. You thought makers of alkaline cells would jeopadize their profits and provide cells which make use of easily-reversible reactions? :p

EDIT: perhaps I should point out that i have once violently exploded an alkaline cell when recharging it; the body ruptured and burst battery fluids on my face.

Read about it carefully. The results (performance) are nowhere as impressive as advertised and secondly: the cylinder holding the chemistry inside will corrode slowly. Enjoy cleaning your battery compartment from leaked liquids. There is a reason for alkaline batteries being for single use only.
 

it is noting new and it didn't work very well,
some alkaline won't hold charge, some can't even be recharged, in the end you will spend more money buying a lot of alkaline batteries and wasting your time finding out many of them won't work.

Its not funny when batteries decide to blow, for high discharge applications like usage in the flash unit, I would prefer tested and proven solutions. Don't risk damaging your equipment and safety with those chargers.

Recharging Alkaline batteries is not a good idea like what the others say

a few dollars batteries damaging A 400+ SB-600 who could want that? and as Some Electronics Experience Recharging Alkaline will .... go kaboom when you use it like in Robots which one of my Schoolmates do when the Batteries decided to Explode while We were Testing it in A Track so it might work but it is just ... too risky and Oily too with that Foul Smell everytime you Have it Mounted on your Camera

If Possible Try Buying a Voltage Meter so you can Checked your Batteries after Using it for a event instead of throwing away Good batteries there are some out there hardware store most likely will find it i do sometimes with batteries after i shoot (Mostly for my school) i will check my batteries for a Minimum 1.4 V - 1.6 v so it might help by getting a tester

just saying.... time consuming but keeps a few dollars inside your Pocket
 

I don't understand the appeal of trying to recharge alkaline batteries when outstanding NiMHs like the Eneloops can last up to 30 years even if you recharge them once a week. How much does each Eneloop cost you per day over 30 years?

Another thing: Alkalines are designed as one-use, so will the external of the batteries withstand hundreds or thousands of times of being grabbed by your fingernail as you take them out of the devices or will they start to peel off after a few times?

Consider the capacity and the recycling rate of modern NiMh batteries using on a camera flash, is so much better than Alkaline batteries.

btw, if you are heavy user of rechargeable batteries, the NiMh batteries will still need to decommission after one year of usage, as they are not perform as good as new, even so, the cost is still justifiable to invest on good quality charger and batteries.

You are lucky the fluid or metal did not injure your eyes. :sweatsm:

This is very true, from my experience with NiMH cells used in RC cars. Those NiMH batteries gets a bit "sleepy" after a certain duration of "abuse" :bsmilie: But then, there are good chargers out there that can cycle the batteries (multiple cycles of charge and discharge) and charge them up to tip-top condition. When taken care of well, NiMH can last a long time before you need to change a new set. :)

Yikes! Seems I've attracted too much negative comments by including 'for flash'. :(

I just wanted to share these new product with all.
Maybe some may find a good use for rechargable alkaline batts in some other aspect. :thumbsup:

Hey there is nothing wrong about sharing. In fact its out of good intentions that you decided to share :thumbsup: Just that too many of us have had some experience with alkaline batteries to know that the solution isn't too feasible for long term use. We won't want those cells to blow up right beside you either :nono: For your safety :)

Thanks for sharing your horrific experience. This should serve as a warning for those who wanna try charging alkaline batts.
 

I've got one, the Two Battizer batts come together with the charger leaked after the first charge and damage my xbox 360 controller.
 

so far so good on my battizer set , charges my 50cents sanyo batteries
