1. in what area is critique to be sought?
I am looking for composition, exposure, balance of picture.

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
To give a clean refreshing look at marina bay

3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
I wanted to reshoot the mba front view and did not like the messy white ball in front
of the bay, so i took a long walk and manage to shoot at this place.

4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
I like this picture as it has few clean lines and a little hi-tech touch.
Clean water reflection of the hotel, sharp focusing, top to bottom.

I wish all viewer would pass comment be it good, bad or in between,
Hi Kit hope you can spend time to give me your comment too:)
appreciate your last comment it made me a more careful shooter.

1. exposure looks quite good. composition looks decent. Balance seems ok.

I have 2 suggestions that you may like to try.
1. Try to shoot during dusk or dawn when the lights are still on and the sky is lit instead of dark and black.
2. Look at this link for some idea of having an even better composition.

Lighting wise is hard to replicate. Anyway, showing you this photo for some idea of composition.

all seems fine, not a bad timing all things considered.

some comments:

(1) maybe positioning yourself such that the rightmost reflection is not so near the edge would be good

(2) cropping off some of the space on top might work better

Thanks coolthought and night86mare for your valuable comment.

Hi Pansclub, may i know what lens did u used to take this shot? Nice picture;) Also, if you can share the Mode used, Apecture, ISO and Shutter Speed, that will help as i like to take this kind of picture:)

lemme guess. at least f16? at least 10s shutter speed? hmm. Shutter Priority or Manual mode can get this... ISO's surely base ISO of 100 thereabouts?

the image is clean and sharp! and yes. same thoughts as night86mare.

Exposure is good, and image is sharp. Would have preferred the crop to be tighter, as mentioned by bro night86mare. Also, you can try adjusting the levels in Photoshop to enhance the contrast more, seems like the black point here can be better adjusted. Good attempt :)

Hi Override2zion,
Thanks for the tips, I have adjusted a little of the contrast, and brightness, but I lost some detail under the right side bridge re-concrete, which has rib cross support.
On my adjusted copy its is visible and after going through flickr most are lost probaly due to compression.
I did a crop too but the image lost some spaciousness, which was not my intention, thanks for hi-lighting the important point and I will take note of it.:)

:bigeyes:WOW! Thanks! Great Shot! Great Camera:)

This composition is perfect to showcase reflection. I would not suggest to crop some of the dark sky to have equal top and bottom but instead have more water at the bottom. Cropping the dark sky would sort of saturate the pic with too much details. Sometimes its a better composition to have some "breathing space" in the pic. If not, the pic may seem too "overwhelming".

Move a bit to the left so that you can capture the whole MBS and not to have some parts obscured by the highway on the right.

My 2 cts as my eyes see it...thanks.

i think he missed the point about the ND filter you are using and the duration. plus very imprt is a good tripod to go along.
