Go to Sri Srinivsa Perumal Temple for the piercing and ceremonial practices.

To capture the procession, you can just shoot along the designated route.

Did not know that Thaipusam is not a public holiday here.

how come its thursday and not saturday or sunday??? :dunno:

Try going early morning, around 4am as prayer ritual and piercing had started! Best to wear slippers and bring along a shoe bag or a plastic bag to keep them when you're entering the temple. Cheers!

Hi,

First timer here. After reading the description website, I still confused on what time is the preceding and the bearer parade.

If anyone could enlighten me here, on the timing?

Thanks

Thaipusam date depends on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February). Therefore, the date is not fixed.

The Thaipusam festival and prayers will start on Wednesday night for 2011.

The Thaipusam procession must be held within the time specified in the Police Permit. To facilitate this, no participant in the procession shall leave Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple prior to 12.05am or after 6.00pm on 20 January 2011.

Route for the Thaipusam Kavadi carriers.

SPF Thaipusam 2008.

It would be great if they can hold the fire walking thingy in the late aftn...

I feel like going.. but the details still a little blur..

I think 12am-3am they will carry milk pots. and then from 3am-6am i think smaller "kavadi" they call. 6am onwards till the end of festival would be the ones you are all looking for the bigger "kavadis" with alot of piercings..
i hop this in for is useful to you guys.
