I think ever ask last month around $600+

I think that might be the Tamron 18-250.
The price difference for 50mm of difference between these 2 lens is like $300~.

Having said that, reviews I read online seem to indicate the 18-250 is a far better lens, even at its extreme ends.

Partially because the 18-250 is a newer lens and has a different (better?) optical layout.

is it? so should i go for 18-200 or 250?
im afraid that 250 will be even more worst for the iq.

Given a choice, should i go for

Tamron AF 18-200mm
Tamron AF 18-250mm
Tamron AF 28-300mm

given a choice which will you get?

i need a tele-versatile lens.
among the 3 which is will give the best IQ.

18-55 but i want 1 that i can do everything instead of switching lens here n there

lol, actually isn't that the point of a dslr?

but ok, i think all megazooms are almost equal, perhaps you can go for the 18-250.

28-300 on crop factor dslr will not allow you to take any wider scenes.

btw, all megazooms have serious distortion problems, even if they don't have sharpness problems.

hmm.. so what do you suggest for me ? i really am confuse

are u sure u can achieve that with a superzoom? ;)

its not just focal length... there's also max aperture to consider...

any alternatives for me?

U got to ask yourself this, do u really need to use the zoom at 200mm?
I got a Pentax 55-300 lens because i like to take photos of birds and wouldnt mind swaping to kits lens when i nd a wider angle for landscapes.

U can get a Pentax 18-135 lens instead.

I have a Pentax 18-250 and it takes really nice shots in daylight.
It's a great travel lens. pair it up with a fast prime lens for indoor or night shots.

Most folks would recommend the 18-250 if you can afford it over the 18-200. The IQ of the 18-250 is better.

the Pentax 18-135 is like 1100?

i ask myself many times before coming to a conclusion of this lens but now

Actually, I was facing the same dilemma past few days.
I wanted a mega-zoom lens, with constant aperture of the zoom range and WR feature.

Of course, not such lens exist.

So you have compromise a bit here and there.
Advantage of an all-round zoom is
1. Does not require much lens-changing, which is VERY important on walkabouts and when you have your kids along
2. Reduces (but not eliminate) dust exposure to your sensor with the lowered frequency of lens changing.

But, cons is,
1. Photos will not be as spectacular compared to a more expensive long range prime (i.e. DA* 300) or fast zoom (i.e. DA* 50-135 or Tamron 70-200 f2.8), though some will argue that this is subjective.

My case, I already have a DAL 18-55 (red kit for my wife's KX that I share with my K-5) and a DAL 50-200.
Wanted something that I don't have to keep reaching into my backpack to change lens.
But having the same 'difficult' requirements as I wrote above.

In the end, I decided now to get a 18-55WR and get lens pouch to attach to my holster or belt to store the 50-200 so its easier and faster to reach. Saves me money for now and the is combo pretty much covers my needs (18-55 covers daily walkabouts I do and 50-200 for that extra zoom and nature walks on weekends).

Having said that, if you feel that the $300~ price top-up for 50mm zoom difference is justified, then the Tamron 18-250 is heavily recommended.

Otherwise, the DA 18-135WR is just damn sweet.
Near silent SDM motor (tried it out at SLR Revo and impressed a Canon-toting friend into seriously considering a Pentax K-5 next year) and WR with reasonable zoom range is the next best option, although the price is way above the other alternatives.

Just my noob-ish $0.02 worth of opinions...
