I am using NX, which came with my nikon purchase. One of my friend suggested me to use Photoshop Lightroom 3 for processing. Is it worth spending for this software or is there any free ware which is somewhat equivalent to lightroom?

NX as in ViewNX or CaptureNX? there is lot of differences.

anyway, there is nothing FREE and come close with lightroom.

Lightroom is definitely worth the money if you usually shoot in RAW. You can easily adjust the levels, brightness and everything without fear that you'll corrupt the actual photo file. Try getting for a free trial on adobe and test it out before deciding on whether to purchase it?

oh yes, lightroom is very awesome. in fact, ever since i started using lightroom as my primary image editing program, i rarely use my photoshop unless heavy editing such as cloning is required. so yeah, i guess my advice together with the vast majority is to just go ahead and get the lightroom. you'll love it.

I'm stingy.. but Lightroom definitely worth my money   :bsmilie:

Worth every cent, since I only shoot in RAW, no jpegs. You will be amazed how powerful the software is. I still think Photoshop is an overkill, but Photoshop Lightroom does the job perfectly.

Why not give Photoshop element a try too? Much cheaper than actual photoshop CS5 and in my opinion, more functions compared to LR.
