I am playing the game on iPhone... but I got stuck on Mission 11 (Bridge Assault), where I am supposed to get onto a boat and shoot at something.... but I don't know what. When I get onto the boat, the tank and stuff on the bridge will start shooting at the armoured truck and blow it up pretty quickly... so I am stuck. Where can I find out how to get past this? :bsmilie:

It's a good game, but nothing compared to the console version. It's just that on the iPhone, you have portability and you can play anywhere.
I'm sure you will get thousands of articles in Google if you search for BBC2 for iPhone walkthrough. Just that you need to seach for the correct word to find the stuff you want.

I'm telling you no... I am a seasoned Google user, and I know the special characters to enhance the search. I even have a friend who is a complete techie at work do the search for me. The game is too new and the only walkthrough available is a paid app.
Maybe in a couple of weeks, the walkthroughs will appear... but at least as of yesterday, the walkthough was not there.
If you don't believe me, do a search... you will probably get this thread coming out tops since the googlebots are pretty active on this very popular site. I am also pretty techie and I have a couple of websites, so I roughly know how search engines work.
Yah. There are lots of people on Clubsnap who will tell you that 'Google is your friend', or 'why can't you Google it?' Not only is this completely unhelpful, and I stress the word COMPLETELY, it is also very condescending and somewhat insulting. It's like tell you that you are so dumb that you cannot even figure out the search engines.
In this case, the answer cannot be found on Google. However, even if it can be found, it is in nobody's interest to tell your fellow forumers to Google it. I think that if you don't want to help, then don't. Telling people to Google it is not helping. If the answer can indeed be found on Google, then the post simply serves to put down the help seeker. If the answer cannot be found on Google, then the person who suggested that the help seeker 'Google it' has quite simply insulted himself. Neither are positive outcomes.
I think if you do indeed Google it, you will be able to find a thread somewhere on Clubsnap discussing the very popular 'Google it' reply... and the outcome is that people should not tell others to Google it because nothing good can come out of it. If you want to help, then the help seeker (in this case myself) will be very grateful. If you don't feel like helping, then don't. Telling me to Google it is NOT helping.
btw, usually i check if the question asked by TS can be answered by typing the EXACT question in google.
this reply of "google it" is only usually given to clearcut questions with tons of articles on it all over the internet.
for example, "what is the rule of thirds?"
some days when i just take the time to answer this (maybe you should try it), the usual type of person who makes such queries will end up asking another 4 questions. i have vague memories of a particular thread where someone asked how to do hdr...
i detailed the process of taking a few exposures, combining it with some program, etc... and mentioned bracketing etc.
the reply was something to the tune of:
"what is exposure?"
"what is bracketing?"
"can you suggest some programs to use?"
"what is tone mapping?"
suggest you spend more time helping out the newbies corner to understand that sometimes, googling is way more efficient, and once people realise that there is really so much information out there, they will learn faster, by themselves.
this is the starting point, it is not an attempt to put down people and make fun of them.
I think is the last part "Normal people have other real people for best friends" that is not so good to comment. So everyone who seek online help has no friends????

Agree. These are the ones who are trying to say, "I know the ans but it's for me to know and for you to find out." And apparently most of the time they don't even know the answer to TS's question anyway. But what's stopping them?
So they come in and post some half-screwed answer like "google it", then sit back and pat their own backs congratulating themselves, "Hey, i'm a really great guy, instead of giving TS a fish i'm teaching him how to fish, which is infinitely more important than answering TS's question. I taught TS a valuable life lesson today."
Why not? Instant gratification. "Google it" is just 2 words. Great ego booster.

i think there's another sort of instant gratification that we see in society nowadays.
it's called "riding my high horse" - you can look down, and criticize others' actions without any contributions whatsoever... and you also feel happy that you are so morally superior and above the rest.
sadly, these people help nobody either, and somehow, i suspect they derive a certain perverse pleasure (possibly even more incomprehensible than the google it people) from doing so. the best part is when they comment on the google it people not being helpful... and then they don't help either. :bsmilie:

That's very sweeping... but casting horse philosophy and perverse pleasures aside...
I am not saying that all people that say 'Google it' are bad people. I am saying that the very act of saying 'Google it' contributes absolutely nothing except to stir negative feelings. So, people should stop doing it.
Taking the example of you helping the newbie out in HDR. Your first reply on HDR was very helpful. Even if that particular newbie learnt nothing as he was obviously did not know the basics and was not ready for HDR photography, other readers will benefit from your reply. However, when he starts to ask basic questions on exposure, etc... the correct thing to do will be to link him the relevant articles on the net, or to recommend him some good books. There is so much information on exposure out there, reading the wrong articles may give you the wrong idea or limit your creative potential.
Telling someone to 'Google it' cannot be a starting point. It is just offensive. It is better not to say anything at all. If you feel that the help seeker is asking a stupid question and does not deserve help, just let the people who have the patience answer the simple questions.
It is also not fair to say that the people who comment on people who denounce the 'Google it' people as being unhelpful. If you search my posts, I do offer information when I know I can help, and I have even written a full review on photobook services. Where I have the time and knowledge, I will help with constructive answers. 'Google it' is COMPLETELY unhelpful. It is just very irritating.
i'm only referring to the people who complain about google it without helping mar...
there is this member here who never helps. all he does is go around complaining about the google it group. he even bases his avatar and signature around it... think is what wakawalao or something like that...
lol, usually nowadays i will google, and then since already google, highlight some threads and highlight to them that they could google for the answer next time, and please read those links.
anyways, i started playing yesterday, but don't have much time to play yet... so haven't gotten there. if i get there and manage to go pass, maybe can post here how. :bsmilie:
Heh... someone a few posts up already gave the answer. Just shoot the bridge. There are some diamond-shaped targets you are supposed to shoot. Once they are destroyed, the targets disappear. I was shooting everything else except the bridge. ;p
:dunno: dunno wat tokking you. Are you saying the 'google it' people are not helpful and are only putting down others, but cannot stand being put down themselves?
In any case i'm glad you didn't raise any objections to my statements the 'google it' people are motivated by their own ego. That pretty much settles it.
