I was looking through the classifieds and saw a pretty neat deal. I contacted the seller and he agreed on the price and the meeting time. When I was on the bus, with cash on hand, going there halfway, the seller smsed me on whether I could up the price due to some issue with the girlfriend and stuff. I was furious and immediately canceled the deal. I mean, we already settled the price issue way before the actual transaction and now you are asking for a raise in price?

Are the forumers here not trustworthy or is it just a stroke of bad luck??? ;:)angry:

99% of the forumers here are just everyday people, so no point blaming it on the forum. you just encountered a bad seller.

Thanks for the reassurance. Why are the 1% not everyday people?

Ask them. You'll find them everywhere. But honestly: why didn't you just say "No, we stick to the price, I'm there in 15min"? - I had the same experience, the funky joker tried to bargain down the price for the item I offered. Just told him "No, you agreed to this price." and he accepted. Some just try their luck. Finally, when counting the money I discovered he gave me $50 too much. Returned the money and left, enough of this joker.

Many jokers around, stand firm on your decision .

Thanks for the friendly replies.

These people just want to shift the price to their benefit, not thinking of the other party. The seller actually placed his item in two places, here and eBay and his gf contacted him about a person who bid higher than me(most probably) and now he wants me to up the price. In the first place, he should make the deal on a first come first serve basis and not a who pays more basis. I already took time to arrange my schedule such that I can meet the guy punctually. The deal is already confirmed around 6 hours before the actual meeting time, and he just raised the price. I was really shocked at his attitude.

My anger has cooled but I'm still displeased... :thumbsd:

it's an online forum, and it comes with it's own risks. but i still believe that the good ones still outnumber the bad ones. else we wouldn't be making any other deals.

sorry to hear about your bad deal.

cheers!

1% are fanboys whose worship the camera markers like god.

Markers? You mean makers?

The other 1% are the actual vendors and shop owners who advertise here in the mass sales, etc. They make their money buying and selling gear.

you settle with your girl yourself"

All kinds of people in the world. Nothing lost except some time and a bus fare. Move on. You will meet worse people in life... Move on... if not you will go mad.

Lol. Your humorous comments made my day. I've already got over the whole thing, now looking for another seller. I don't have a camera and I can't start photography without one. ;)
