Francier 5603

Have u check out the sirui ones at TK? They are quite good. And if u have budget, gitzos. Sorry, never tried those fancier ones.

it's not the most stable, and the height is not the best (rather limited)

but it's light, and it's cheap and it can get the job done in most cases.

With tripods, buy one that is of known quality and it will last.
I find the "buy cheap, pay twice" adage really holds true as far as tripods are concerned.
A good quality ball or 3 way head is another thing to consider.

I have seen the Sirui in action. Carbon Fibre, not in the class of Gitzos, but still manages quite well. A D700 + Tokina 11-16mm and Lee filters.

1204 or 2204 is quite ok. Legs alone, I think is SGD 260 and 280 respectively.

Go to TK and check it out. I am not affiliated to the shop, just thought they offer gd price, and quite gd service, and some gd products.

Not sure if this thread shd be in Pentax sub-forum, but just to relate it to Pentax cameras, the Gitzo 1541T is ideal as a travel light tripod setup. As I understand, the 1204 will be a gd travel light setup. But for 20 dollars more, you get a more stable setup with 2204, and not that heavy as well.

Best is to bring your camera and lens and test it in the shop.

Maybe it design for Asia Ppl only

that's height....

what i'm talking about is that the whole tripod will start spreading out more if you even put a bit of weight on it, when fully extended.

so if you get this, suggest not to fully extend it to take photos in windy conditions, especially when on side of mountain.

like i've said before, if that's all you can afford, it's not bad. i used to get loads of cheapo tripods anyways, and they helped me to take photos... :)

rather have a tripod, now matter how lousy, than not. of course, none of that plastic free nonsense, please.
