I would like to seek critic on the composition and the feeling it portrays. Although I have given it the title "Road to Nowhere", some have feedbacked to me that it is too tranquil to be a road to nowhere. Please enlighten, thanks. =)

Wow, I love the simplicity. I just translated an article about simplicity in Digital Camera Magazine UK for Digital Camera Magazine Indonesia. This is exactly what the magazine explained!

Very nice and simple. Great smooth waters! May I know what time is this taken at?

Great shot.
As often said, less is more.

Was this in Singapore?

When I looked at this photo, the railings grabbed my attention. It is simple and focused and does not have any distracting elements. I followed the "flow" of the railings until it disappears into the water. What came to my mind was... what lies beneath?

Hmm... Maybe Inferi, ready to grab those who approaches the end of the bridge, and pull them down to watery depths? =P

perhaps better control of the exposure might help. you don't want to have so much blowouts, really. if you refer to thomas (soulfly)'s pictures you might get what i mean.

composition wise, i can't say i like the position of the jetty-thing. my suggestion here is to crop away the bottom and make this 16:9.

The top right corner of the picture is funny, there is a white band of something... it sorts of spoils the entire image... is it something you forgot to process?

also placement of the jetty could be much better.

When I think of "Road to _____" I can't help but imagine a path/track/road leading from the foreground to the background. In your case the composition doesn't imply that to me.

that's just my opinion so don't treat it like the gospel truth :)

Also, I feel that the B&W treatment lacks a full range of tones from black to white. You'll notice that the railings are almost completely the same shade.
I'm guessing you took this shot in strong sunlight?

Yes... always think... Highlights, Midtones and Shadows... need to have a good balance of all three...

Hmm it was taken at about 7pm, so the sun is almost down already.

Hey thanks for your input. How do you suggest i can adjust it to make it better? Highights were blown cos I did a long exposure (w/o remote so i set it @ 30 sec default). As for the midtones and shadows, how do i go about tweaking it? I'm not that adept with photoshop yet.

Actually need to look at the RAW file to see what is salvageable.

This is my take... on a cloudy hot and humid afternoon. Using a 10 stop ND as well.

My title is also different from yours...

It is called "No Entry to the Bottomless Lake"

Hmm my raw image was over-exposed. Maybe i should get a ND filter. I waited till dusk before i start shooting, hence the limited time to test exposure etc. Your ND is the screw-mount type or...?
