Hi All.

When taking macro photos, I'm trying to get a longer reach so I don't scare the subject and I allow more natural light in (less flash) - all while keeping the 1:1 magnification.

So, can do this with a simple tele extender?

Such as a Canon EF 1.4x Extender will increase the reach by 1.4x or have 1.4x more magnification at the same length?

thanks!

Thanks for the link. Lots of good headers there.

But it doesn't say how I can increase the distance.
It also suggests to use a 200mm+ FL lens. The biggest normal lens I've seen is 180mm.
So, can I just add a 2x tele-extender to a 100x to make it a 200x (increasing the distance) ?

thanks!

Use a TC to get the distance. It's multiple the focal length by the factor it is of. A longer focal length will enable you a longer reach. But note that you reduce the aperture by the same factor as well. :)

Extension tubes will reduce the working distance. :)
