Dear Frens,

I got an option to add another Olympus EPL-1 with 14-42mm with MMF-2 plus Zuiko 40-150mm at a good deal..But I am currently using a Canon EOS 550D with a Sigma 18-50 f2.8-4.5 OS HSM, Canon kit lens plus a 50mm F1.8..I was thinking of getting a smaller camera to leeplace my ageing Sony T10 compact which is almost 5 years old..

I brought the EOS 550D along to several overseas trip and I must admit that it is some how abit too heavy..But the picture quality is good so I can't complain much about it..I dun even bother buying a 200mm zoom because I seldom take long distance photos..

I was thinking that the M4/3 will be much lighter to bring on overseas trip..I can even bring along to super zoom because it is only 7 cm long..

My friend was telling me that my 550D is good enough and I should not waste money getting another system..But the deal is too tempting that makes my backside itchy..

Another option is to get a compact camera to leeplace by 5 years old compact cam..But I like taking night pics so the option is to buy a m4/3 or continue bringing my EOS 550D on trips..

Hi, saw your post. I'm using the GF1, with the 9-18mm Olympus (most of the time)

It's light as hell !!! And shoots well !!

Hi Bro..I felt abit of wastage for unutilizing the EOS in case I get a new EPL-1..

Les, You need to decide what your priorities are.
If it's a light camera kit you want, then it's the m4/3.

The interchangeable lenses make it rival any DSLR.
The size makes it much less painful to carry around.

Unless of course, you are only shooting in Singapore.

I never complained once about my m4/3 !!
I was however, CURSING that it was NOT made earlier...

Here's another shot to (hopefully) inspire you

Bro..Those shots are indeed very nice..I will go think for awhile before deciding....BTW, is there a Olympus 14-45mm lens?

If you are the type that thinks carrying a 550D is heavy. I seriously suggest you sell your canon set up and go for a full m4/3 sytem.

You should also take a hard look at Sony Nex and/or Samsung NX100. APS-C sized sensors in a compact form factor similar to m4/3 EVIL cams.

Dear Bros..

Thanks or the help..I think I will get a all weather compact camera to leeplace my old sony T9..I felt that all electronic stuffs obsolete very quickly..So all these will be rather old in 3-4 years time and I will need to spend a large amount of money replacing them..

I have almost exactly the same problem with TS. Anyway, to put it short; I bring my EPL1 as a P&S and DSLR only when I know I need the capabilities of a DSLR. Otherwise, the light EPL1 is usually what I bring for normal family shoots. It's not fun carrying a DSLR on a 2 weeks trip.

Bro..But sometimes when u need the slr and regretted not bringing it along..dun you feel that way too?

i have an oly ep-1 along with my sony a350.

however, do remember that a m4/3 is nowhere near as compact as a PnS, so its not gonna fit into your pockets! because with the zoom lens, the m4/3 isnt that compact. with a pancake lens, its prolly more convenient to carry about.

that said, i think a m4/3 is a worthwhile investment, after all it takes better shots than most PnS cams...however, i think a DSLR still produces better shots :p
