Hi there,
I am thinking of getting a Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC for my Canon 400D for my Japan Trip. But I have a few questions to ask before spending money on one.

1) Will the lens work on my 400D?
2) I have sourced for a grey set (appx S$680) with no warranty, does it mean that if it is spoilt, say the lens cannot autofocus, I cannot go to anywhere to fix it? Is there a shop that fixes all unwarranted lens?
3) What else must I look for when testing the lens?

I hope there are experienced friends can help me.
Thank you!

1) yes it will work if you get the Canon mount version.
2) No warranty means that if it breaks, you have to pay to get it fixed. If it has focusing error, you also have to pay to get it fixed. And getting it fixed is not that cheap, since the agent here sends the lens back to Japan. So you will have to pay for the courier also if your needs to travel to japan.
3) Make sure no fungus. And that everything works according to specs. You might want to print a focus test chart out and test to see if the lens focus ok on your camera.

Hi DD123, newbie here as well and also looking at getting this versatile lens for my 500D. Could you elaborate abit on the focus test chart? I tried to google but unable to find a satisfactory answer...Thanks in advance!

Still trying to know how to take beautiful pix, here 2 photo taken using Canon 400D + Tamron 18-270. I took it @ ISO800 where should go lower to reduce the noise.

Many thanks!

Thanks for your advice. I bought my lens, tried using the focus chart. Quite good as I am able to test out focus issue. The sales person was pleasantly surprised that I took the chart out to test :)
Lets hope the lens is useful in my Japan trip :)
