my second exchange body is from the same shipment as SITEX.

seem like my hot pixel issue is temporally resolved.

It's meaningless even if it hits 7000 posts with junk posts. :)

We better discuss more on its performance and how to fully utilize the body.

I havent gotten any reply for my previous question.

"just wonder if u guys choose RAW or RAW+JPG when u take the pictures. I tried RAW+JPG but the JPG pictures shown on ViewNX2 look slightly different compared to the RAW (NEF) format picture. JPG pictures tend to be slightly darker.

I tried using ViewNX2 to convert from NEF to JPG with highest quality and it is still the same, just the filesize larger than the D7K converted JPG.

Any expert can teach me or enlighten me on this?"

Anyone?

Try doing it on Photshop CS5 or Lightroom 3...should be better.

Sorry, didn't saw your msg earlier XD

I always took it with RAW since I rarely uses ViewNX2. Remember that ViewNX2 keeps your settings (eg. standard, vivid, as well as your processing of JPG in your camera (sRGB or Adobe RGB). You may wish to check on those settings first.

Raw files doesn't take consider to all these, probably explain why it looks different. You can confirm what I say by using software other than ViewNX2, if they look about the same as the Raw files, then I guess I'm spot on :)

Normally I shot with Slot1 RAW and Slot2 JPG. Love this feature. I could pass the Slot2 SD to friend to copy out some file while I continue to shoot.
ViewNX2 seems slow to update effect then I move the slider so did not like it too must. Can't wait for the LightRoom 3.3 to be in release version.

I used both Windows Photo Galley and CS5 to compare and I cannot detect any difference. I don't use ViewNX2.

Why don't you try with Windows Photo Gallery and make a determination?

Same here, cant find much diff, except I am using windows photo and elements 9.

Notice one thing, the file size are huge.. Btw, I'm wondering what would be the difference between the lossless compressed vs compressed Raw.. I can take 100++ photo more if on compress raw.

never really compare....since already shooting raw may as well shoot looseless. :bsmilie:

You have to click the "RAW" button on the top left hand corner of your photo. After you click, you will see the "RAW" button change to a running status bar, and a few seconds your RAW file will become very sharp and nice.

Hi all,

I am having a "Weird" problem with my D7000. I don't know whether is my lens problem or the D7000 problem. What happen is I have this Tamron 17-50mm F2.8(non VC) lens that I use with my D90 - Everything is good back then. But yesterday, I was trying the live view of D7000 with this lens and I find that it could not AF! It will try to "focus"(but failed) when I press the shutter halfway in live view mode. The lens tend to focus at one end of the focus(but not AF) and stopped(sound "Stucked"). I tried to switch the live view mode to "AF-F AF-S" and all sorts of combi with Face detect, wide, normal etc.. but still same problem - at the end after the lens struggled, the AF doesn't even move. When I switch the lens back to my D90 and try to AF in live view - NO PROBLEM.. I also tried the 18-105mm VR lens on both D90 and D7000 live views and both works fine.. could it be the problem of the tammy lens(but why no problem AF at live view with D90?) or the AF mechanism in D7000 is different? If yes, I will be quite upset as D7000 is suppose to be a better DSLR in terms of technology. So can anyone enlighten me? greatly appreciate your advises before I approach NSC.

I dont use live view for composing shots but it will be extremely useful when I need to snap a photo at an angle is too difficult to reach...

Hi... nope.... I assume I dint cos I tried to release attach and try many times.... and I did the same testing using the nikkor 18-105mm VR at live view.. no problem... The tammy works perfectly well and can AF very fast in normal modes.. just tat the moment I switch to live view, the AF gets into trouble....

D7000 Video AF not working on 3rd party lenses?

I just got my D7000, and noticed that on my Sigma 120-300, the AF works perfectly for stills, but hunts all over the place and never focuses ...

Oh... if that's the case it's kinda disappointing.... cos it works perfectly fine on my D90........... but I tried with a tamron 18-270mm and it "could" focus just sometimes will "hunt"... but the 17-50mm is very bad - The moment you switch to LV, it will start to AF slightly but just towards one end or another.. then it will give you those sound like "stucked" like that.. and cannot AF anymore.... sad..........

IMHO, it should be fine if you have the budget. The camera has scene mode as well as Auto function unless other semi pro. You can always use the auto function first while you learn the exp setting. Since you re getting your first, might as well get the latest model else you can also consider D90 or D5000. Both are excellent model too.

Hi,

I have been tracking postings for the past weeks and still could not figure out where is the cheapest shop to buy D7K with kit lens and at what price. There are so many postings on technicalities which would not interest those who have yet to own a D7K. It is too chimp for me

There is a post on $1999 from HV. Can you please let me know which HV?

You sure u want to buy the D7000? Have u read all the technical discussion? Do u know the possible problem u may encounter.

According to the person who posted this, the price of $1999 is from HV suntec, but it depend on the salesman. I went check out yesterday and the salesman quoted $2199. But the suppose salesperson who quoted $1999 was not in, he is at sitex. I will try look for him again.

I wanted to buy at HV because there can pay installment at the price of 2k. Other place need to add couple percent of service charge.

You ask people to think before buying D7000 but you yourself will want to buy at HV... ha ha...

Anyway, D7000 is a great camera, don't worry so much as long as you are not buying from grey market...
