Original lens hood

Is it strongly advisable to use original lens hood for the particular lens. Or does not matter really?

Does it matter whether you are protected by a LV umbrella when it rains? Or simple any umbrella would do that keeps you dry (as long as it is big enough and no water comes through)? - The same goes for lens hoods. Do note that lens hoods are designed for the focal length / range of a lens. 3rd party lens hood can do the same but some can cause vignetting. Just try in the shop, you'll see the vignetting in the viewfinder.
