D700 vs D7000 ISO 6400

i feel it's more of a white balance issue. it's not juz the glass that has less tint in the picture taken by d7k, the whole image has lesser tint.

My POV is that the one who did the comparison didn't really know how to make comparison.

I quote from the original post, from the ts of the link:
Yes, this is by no means scientific, I was handholding both cameras and did not care where it would focus as all I wanted to see was noise characteristics.

By the way, I think D7000 will murder 7D/550D/60D (all three Canons have the same sensor and essentially the same high ISO patterns).

So, what do we expect? :dunno:

i don't think it is a fair comparison . . .

After reading all the reply I know that true. thank all :)

TS in DPreview only want to make comparison at ISO 6400 between D700 and D7000.
There is no way for a DX camera to defeat a FX in High ISO quality.

With sufficient technological gap it is possible. Like a D90 up against an old 14MP full frame Kodak SLR/n. But agree that it still will take some catching up for DX on the noise control of the D700

Would not it be a complete mockery of full frame sensors if they get owned by crop sensors at high ISOs? Go figure.

Exactly, and they would also have to consider the number of FX customers they might loosing to their own DX format if FX users get fed up with being short changed year after year, updates after updates.

You could already see now (at least for now a year or two), that the D3s sensor is unique and Nikon had been careful about putting it into a D700s or D800, we will see...

nothing to mock about, the d700 is losing out in 2 years of technology.

i believe right now there are quite a number of PnS camera that are on par or even better than the older dSLR like d70s

That would be in two years, but I think Genie's point is valid because D700 can still be considered a current model as the replacement is not out yet.

If both models being current and the DX surpass the FX, then it is indeed a mockery.

You didn't get it. It's already 2 years... D700 was released a little more than 2 years ago.

Even if the 2008 FX loses to a 2010 DX model, it's nothing of a mockery at all. Well, anyway, at least it's still not quite losing out.

Sorry to disturb. I met one guy yesterday whom tell me, " No method what. Dx sensor got no matches to FX sensor." Is that true?
If this is ture than no point to look more into it.

like we said, its partly true depending on how u view it... a 2010DX may be able to match up a 2008FX due to technology advanace, but theres no way it will win a 2010FX sensor

just a quote from thom hogan:

"So you're wondering if the D7000 performs decently in low light? Yes, it does. But don't believe all the bull you see on some Internet forums: this is not D700 let alone D3s level of performance. It's quite good performance, though, enough to bring DX shooters into the low light."

but it is a fact, FF progress is much slower than CF progress.

the distance is narrowing....

Many of you take it out of context by comparing across different generations of technology. I see no point in discussing along that line less one wants a mockery of his/her CQ.

Ya, so what if my "canon s95 owns my d70s in high iso"? My 2020FX owns my 2008FX and my S950000 owns my 2008FX too! Duh!

Tis is forum.. will always have tis type of ppl.
I will ignore their comments

I will always prefer what I like most. Even the new model is good review, I think I know which one fit my taste better :)
It goes the same way for cars forum too.. All the same.

For this section... I will always vote D700 against D7000.

What the Genie said.
