Yong Nuo 465 Flash or Canon Flash

Hi

Im using Canon 1000D and am looking for a flash -- main purpose is for indoor parties or maybe even macro shots.

a friend recommended the Yong Nuo 465 Flash. What attracted me was the price ($135) and the picture quality taken with the flash.

However, another friend was against such third party flashes and said it could damage the camera more (stating that all external flashes actually damage the system but third party ones damage more than Canon make) and said it would be wiser to get a Canon Flash instead.

Is this true?

What do you all think? Any advice and opinions are greatly appreciated, thank you.

Why would Canon produce and sell external flashes if they damaged the systems?
Why would any other company do this? Why are so many people able to use Canon flashes or 3rd party flashes without the 'damages' that you describe here? Rumours and hearsay are the real damages...

ROFL ! External flash damage system .

If there's budget constraint , get the YN465 . Because if you drop or something , you can buy another one and wont hurt you tht much .
If budget is not a problem , then just get the canon flash . It will create less probs for you .

external flash might give you inaccurate ttl or something , whereas canon flashes are designed by canon for canon , so meant that there's little or no problem . there's always a reason why the price range is big right ?

What line of work creates such nonsensical ideas? If there were any little grain of truth in it then all those photography forums around the globe would be full of discussions about it. Which professional photographer would touch an external flash? Yet we can see them mounted everywhere where flash is required. Strange, isn't it? :dunno:

Third party flash won't damage your camera whatsoever, that's why almost everyone is using 3rd party now a days. I've ever been on an Event shoot where all of them were using 3rd party flashes mostly Nissin. I'd recommend you getting 3rd party first it's cheaper and can and learn how to use flash. As you upgrade camera like say semi-pro camera, you can start getting the Canon flash. Thrust me, there's a lot to learn and best is to get one with ETTL YN475 or Nissin 622.

I own a YN467, Very uncommon. Worked very well for me, Has a good ETTL & better guide number compared to 460 or 465. The YN468 is just a YN467 with LCD screen if you get what I mean. Basically everything's the same as YN467 (Same capability) but with an LCD screen.

Ermm.. True you got a point there. But i think none of our regular flash units has that problem huh.

Bro, I's the the same effect you'll get.

If you compare both, YN465 & Di622. YN465 has a quick wheel which will be very convenient when you need to change your flash exposure quickly. Di622 only has a button interface, it also has a bigger head better light. Take one give one I guess. But Nissin is highly recommended here.

Get a DI866 best! :bsmilie: $375 at artworkfoto. Almost same price as 430EX, but it's 580EX quality. :thumbsup:

ya haha..i saw...i think i dont need that much power. I dont think i will use the flash off my camera. So i think di622 is more than suffice? Both can't do high speed sync right?
