EVF for GF1

If anyone has used or considred using the EVF on a GF1, could you please share your experience on, whether you think it is necessary or good to have?

Just got mine today. Necessary for me because:
1. I am getting a 45-200 lens. This will helps instead of viewing thru the LCD monitor which could be unstable to hold with such heavy lens.
2. It really helps in bright day light
3. I have old man's long sighted. can't hold the camera too close to my eye else the LCD image all go blur. This viewfinder helps alot.

Its quite handy to use and to swap around between LCD and viewfinder. I'll just leave it in the hot shoe even when not in use.

I was thinking of getting one - tried the evf2 on the olympus pen and it was great - especially for close-ups. But according to specs, it seems that the panasonic evf is lacking some what (Olympus -1.4mill pixels compared to Panasonic only 200,000 pixels) - so wonder if it would be disappointing ...

I got it at $178 at DDelectronics online. But their price had increased after my order, now is $224. I think it is still cheaper than outside BN set which if I remember correctly is ard $270-280. Only cons is you have to wait for shipment which take almost two weeks & the "only shop warranty".

Yes you are right comparing the two, panasonic's is more grainy due to the low resolution. But no choice... if you need a LVF.. you only have this option...

Hi all, I'm planning to get a GF1 for street photography. Is there any chance that Olympus viewfinder VF-1 will be compatible with the GF1 since Panasonic EVF is having a lower resolution than the Olympus one? Do pardon me if I'm wrong...

one more good point I notice over the past few days of using the LVF - it's really good for shooting moving subject.. just like back to the old slr days(at least for me since ihad been using only digital compact without viewfinder since then)... no regret buying, for me..
