CANON EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM

Been happy using one so far. Pleased by the image quality when wide open. Build seems pretty decent and held up well in Africa. Haven't noticed any dust in the lens and I wasn't particularly protective of it either.

love the second pic :) the 100-400L is a really fantastic lens but if im not wrong, it is not weathersealed and the IS isnt as effective as the newer lenses

Hi Columbuslee,

I having using the EF100-400 more for outdoor action like field sports where light is not a problem. With a F stop of 4.5-5.6, you wouldn't expect to shoot great pictures indoors, unless of course the lighting is really bright. It comes at a fraction of the price of the prime lens like the EF400mm f2.8L, but hey what to do, you get what you pay for.
So I guess what is most important is to know what your needs are and what environment you are likely to shoot under.

Quality wise, the pictures are worthy of a lens with the L branding. I have no complaints whatsoever. Below are a couple of examples of the lens in action.
