hi to every all;)... just wanna know who's still keen on the D300s despite the arrival of the D7000.

please share your reason for choosing the D300s over the D7000. i myself am keen on getting the D300s because i don't think i need the high megapixels and the ISO capabilities of the D7000... another thing is that, why would nikon place the D7000 in between the D90 and the D300s, and price it lower than the D300s, if its better.

i dunno if my thinkin is correct, that's why am having this thread...

;)

D90 is replaced by D7000. Not placed in between D90 and D300s. Ya I know it looks like it but it's not the case.

D7000 is placed between D5000 and D300s.

Now Nikon can say they have almost two pro DX bodies, if that sounds nice to most customers then their marketing succeed!!

from what i understand here, http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/slr/d7000/index.htm , it seemed like a chronological order of nikon's camera bodies from the consumer SLRs to pro... so it seemed that "it" is in between D90 and D300s, not necessarily a "replacement" for D90, but a step up, should i say.

anyways, irregardless of this, are you still getting the D300s? cos this is the question of which this thread is about... thanks!:)

yo bro! i recently bought a 2nd hand D300 (not with an 's') from a friend :)

I don't really need the extra 's', and I am enjoying my D300.

Cheers!

ei bro, sup... i was expecting to see you last shootout in the bottle tree park. anyways, it's good to know that you are enjoying the D300 you just got!

any reason why you did not wait for the D7000 to hit our shores before getting the D300?

sorry i have to ask, cos am really keen getting the D300s... what's holding me back is the D7000, i wanted to see how it really performs, before i lay my final decision, but it's not available here yet! grrrr...

one of the main reason is D300'd superior build quality...etc.

for me, if i would to upgrade to FX later, i would buy the cheaper D7000 and it'll become my backup camera once i got the FX. As D7000 is alot lighter and with some of the specs exceed D300, i wouldn't want to carry a D300 and a FX around lol.

Another reason for not getting the D7k is that ugly Exposure mode dial - so obiang and makes it look so cheapo and so pro-cam wannabe:devil: Sorry to all the rest of cams with dial...

from what i knew, but not confirmed... it'd be about sgd1.6k. reason why am waiting for it to arrive is to see how the early owners would find it, and, it might lower the price of the D300s!;)

how much did you get yours, if you don't mind me asking bro? thanks!

1.6k is an optimistic price estimate. do they bundle with 18-105VR?

you can check out the price guide, i got mine around there. :sweatsm:

D3oos having a promo, did you know?

that's a good price if it's a local warranty set.

not sure still have promotion, saw it some time ago in the papers. their website has no updates on this. maybe you can call Nikon to check.

It is just me that i am a stench supporter of CF memory card, i am more appreciative of old/outdated DSLR technology becoz i am very budget

I bought my D300 from a friend for $1.2k. Its shutter-count was around 15k when i got it. Somemore my friend took care of it well, and he has upgraded to D3s...

And IMHO, i feel that D300 is more 'handsome' than the D7000.

Huh? The D300s is only $1850? I got mine for >$2k last yr:mad2:

got that quote just last monday (27 sept 2010);)

you have a nice friend to sell it at the "buddy" price.

yup same sentiments for the CF card... too bad when I started to own DSLR and wanted it new, the shops all selling the replacement model.

OT... i recently got old manual focus lens for closeup photography. real sweet oldies!

Yo bro! My surname is also Yeo... So we are brothers :)

My friend meant to sell it to me for $1.3k, but his housemaid had thrown away the golden box (inside it were the D300 manual, cables, and some cds installers) when he moved house 2 years ago. He was :mad2:... and then he reduced his selling to $1.2k for me

Bro you got a GOOD old classic manual nikkor REAL glasses. I was from traditional film SLR, using my FM2.
