Pentax 85mm F2 options

Have you ever wanted a 85mm F2 with double gauss design? It should surpass the Sonnar design and not have uncorrected light path like those found in the Jupiter 85mm F2.

Well... perhaps some of you already know this is old news, but here it is. Not the Pheonix 85mm (only Nikon or MD mount).

Look not bad. Even got A setting? While seeing the EXIF, can see the aperture size. Hmm.. Any lobang to get it to Sg? lolx. The price look attractive enough to try.

Some friends tested in Shanghai, appears to be better than the Nikon 85mm F2 ais in terms of picture quality. The latest is the 85mm F2 version 3 with improved coating. Factory was testing around with coating in Apr to Jul period. Now they appear to have committed to mass production.

I am trying to get a copy to test out on the k-r. Not sure when I can get it though. The only way to get one is thru Tao Bao net. There are some sellers in Ebay but prices heavily marked up.

Note that there is a 35mm F2 macro coming out soon as well.

Also, I would like to trust those guys but really I would not. Basic precaution I won't turn a happy hobby into a frustrating experience. Its only about 100 bucks, but still a lot of money for those guys. The reason I post this warning now is because I read a thread about a guy got a lens with no aperture ring. No aperture ring??

I will be in Shanghai sometime soon and let me find out wat;s happening at ground level.

The ones from Hong Kong are all the experimental versions, and they are selling at US$150-200. :nono: They never change.

Exactly, for that price I'd gladly buy one just to play around with.

Was just in the market for a short-telephoto prime, and this looks like an ample stop-gap remedy.

Not that I've much to contribute to this thread - just wanted to show my appreciation for sharing this nice find.

Will keep tabs on this thread for any further developments!

I showed this to my China colleague and he said TaoBao cannot ship to Singapore. Dunno how true or not.

My colleague usually gets a colleague of ours in China to make the purchase and then does a pickup on his regular business trips there.

S$ 100 is worth a punt...not so much when there're 4 or 5 people making the same punt.

Hmm.. from this page, the lens is different from the first one you show. Hmm.. this one does not have the "A" setting. It's brand name is syzygx while the first one is matinkon optics.
Is there any difference in both brand?

I just received this lens thru taobao from the first post. Ordering was fast thru a taobao agent. It takes about a week or so to ship.
There is no "A" setting despite the lens is printed with A settings.
The mount is missing the stop down level. ^^ my mistake for not noticing it in the taobao page.

For $100, you got nothing to lose I guess. Optically it's a very very good one. It's only the MF feeling that leave some space to desire

Yup, I suppose so. The package that cost abt $110 does comes with the nice metal hood and a kendo UV filter.
The built is solid with smooth focusing and aperture rings, although the blades do not close evenly forming a less than perfect shape.
