Get a Shutter Release remote for Long Exposure shots, Lens hood (If you don't have one yet), a good tripod.

Well it protects your screen, preventing scratches on my LCD matters to me.

things to get:
-tripod
-remote for ur camera
-dry cabinet/dry box
-filter to protect ur lens
-cleaning kit
-a bag to transport ur kit around

that's all i can tink of for now.

lastly, screen protectors protect ur screen from scratches.

just my 2 cents ;p

Dont need to rush out to buy stuff.

To start off, a dry cabinet and a cleaning kit. For the rest, you will figure out what you need when you the time comes.:)

i agreed with Treetrunk . . . actually the list will be as followed and you will get it as you start shooting . . . .

1 A dry cabinet (to keep all your equipment from fungus)
2 cleaning kit (pen type)

later you will know what to get, eg :
3 Tripod (buy a good one please)
4 Camera Bag
5 other lens
6 other filters
7 etc etc etc

Anyway, welcome to CS . . .

To TS. How do u find the D3000? Reason to get this model rather than others?

to TS. Congrats on your purchase. Welcome to the world of Digital SLR photography...

be warned: temptation to spend is very strong. certain objects have strange and mysterious 'attractive' forces....
enjoy your new cam. It's pretty good.
If there are any questions, you can ask here or in the Nikon subforum. You can also join outings to meet more like-minded people, if that is your preference.

Its called a lenspen, can get from the usual shops or from mass sales

Thanks for the clarification . . . i find this important.

Totally agreed . . . every week there are things to purchase . . . just need to endure and work within your budget. See whether it is a need or a want. :)

Welcome!
