Hi All,

Can the head of the free Nikon tripod be taken out and replace with other head? Anyone try it before? Not really a technical guy so dont really know can or not? Dont want to spoilt it by force ;)

I think the body was ok, just dont like the head and would like to change to a Ball Head. Is it possible?

Regards

Hmm from what i know rite, free tripod is always a cheap tripod. So i don think the head is changable. Correct me if i am wrong ??

No. So far all those tripods I see given out are pan head, which are usually not user replaceable.

Here's a link to let you know better on tripods. http://www.betterphoto.com/forms/qnaDetail.asp?threadID=12248

I used once only and kept in the store. Hard time adjusting and aligment .. :thumbsd:

I think you should invest on a better tripod if u think your current tripod always get in your way. Btw i can recommend you the tripod i and using now which is the Slik 340DX. It is not very Expensive( around $130) + and reliable. Suitable for beginner to use. Only disadvanctage is the head canot be remove. it is a pan head type.

my camera keep tilting even if i tighten it . . . but i still use it as a lightstand. :bsmilie:

a decent ball head might cost more than the tripod itself, I will not recommend you to replace the head even it is replaceable. the tripod leg will still be the weakest link anyway even though you have a better head.

set budget for a decent tripod, a good tripod can withstand abuse, last you for many years, the spending is worthwhile and justifiable.

head can't be removed, I'm afraid...
Yeah, the legs look steady enough... but the clips aren't particularly strong, and they do transmit quite a lot of vibration (little damping).

Best to get a sturdier one.
Sirui is a good value-for-money brand. <$200 for strong legs and strong ballhead (arca-swiss style clamp).

The Tripodhead can be removed:

The freebie tripod is too flimsy. Invest in a tripod, anyway u wont be always changing tripods. Can be just a one time off thingy. I'm using freebie tripod for other purpose now, like to support flashes instead.
