Hi guys! i want a macro lens but i cant decide between this too. i want one that is good for portrait too so i am thinking which to buy! something that i could walk around with as well as use it for macro! so please help me , give comments reviews and advices i need help asap!

The difference in focal length already is a MAJOR question. Which do you need more. More zoom or more wide?
As for portrait, both works... but at different distances. And for the same picture perspective, it'll look different as well.
i would prefer a shorter one . and yea the cam i am using would be 450d . so not a full frame. But is the 50mm f2.5 any good? i like sharp macro photos! . i am kinda a geek for sharp photos which is sharper ? thanks so much for quick replies ! the problem is i want to shoot bugs and portraits!
Is it SOOOOOO hard to google for a review? Or to look in the consumers corner for the price guides?
i been there and done that , just trying to see if i can get at a cheaper price or they have any recommendation from users on where to get cheap prices and i wanted personal opinions for the reviews . i been reading alot some say good some say bad so i am not sure so i am just curious what clubsnap people think about the lens. i am sorry if i have offended u? yea i am still a noob , pls be gracious. and no it is not that hard to google because i have been reading alot.

1. The consumers corner lists the shops and places where to get the cheap prices. If you really actually looked, you would not need to ask.
2. Google will help you get to the actual review sites where they use firm numbers and scientific methods, which are more accurate than a whole bunch of end-users personal opinions.
well i wanted to updated updated version . so nothing beats for eg someone went to ask yesterday price. and yea i understand , because i am noob as stated previously there are some stuff i do not understand , so adding some personal knowledge from people would help me alot. like the portrait macro said by someone . thanks alot, it is not really stated. and yes pls be gracious .
Still you would need to know a bit more. Somebody getting more than just the lens could manage to get additional discounts. If you only want to have the lens you wouldn't get the same price. Some shops offer e-quotes, valid for 7 days. Usually that's the best offer you can get if it's just for the lens.
The reason why Rashkae pointed to price is guide is also that certain shops (not listed here, of course) offer the lens quite cheap initially but try to sell you filters and other stuffs on top. Needless to say that the filter is actually cheap and crappy but the price somewhere at rooftop, to make up for the discount given for the lens.

e-quote = electronic quote. Send them an email, detail what you want and they return within 1 day usually. Do check your spam filter settings to whitelist their email addresses. Print the quote and bring to shop, valid for 7 days. For MS Color the boss (Florence) will send the quotes. Individual sales staff might not be able to offer at this price.
