Hi, just wondering does anyone use a mini softbox before? Something like this

Im looking for a hand held diffuser for hotshoe flash, mainly using for portrait works. For now Im not looking at umbrellas or those bigger softbox (which requires a lightstand), as I need something which is handheldable.

I already got a stofen omnibounce, but I when Im taking portrait photos outdoors and there's nothing to bound, I will still use the omnibounce with direct flash, and the light is not diffused evenly.

Will a mini softbox like the one above be better to spread light out evenly? Or will it be similar to omnibounce?

Thanks

looking at that soft box, the answer to your question is pretty much 'NOPE'.

reason being the softbox surface area is not really big, it may soften the light abit but the shadow if any will still be quite harsh. If u want those blur shadow edge effect u need a much bigger surface softbox, the bigger the softer your shadow become
