I can place 2 batteries on the tray of a 3rd party grip. Is it advisable to use an original and a third party battery together?

Personally I wouldn't do it.
But you can do it if you want. But you have to bear the risks as well, in case anything goes wrong.
Thanks. Checking if there are friends here who experienced issues when using the above mentioned. Then I woundn't want to bear the risk if there is. Ok get 1 more original or 3rd party then.
Hello skysunsandsea.
Hahaha... what daredevil123 brother says is true.
An analogy would be... like mixing different batteries into a torch light.
But allow me to share with you my experience.
I have used, time and again, original and third party batteries in both 3rd party battery grips and original battery grips.
So far I have never encountered any problems, if that is of any consolation to you.
Nowadays, if occasion calls for it (e.g. when my original battery runs out of juice), my SereneXMM still mixes original and 3rd party.
Just to share with you only lah.
Thanks!!! Probably I wont use the combo unless necessary. Excuse for me to buy a battery at comex haha.
BTW, anyone here know where to buy a LP-E5 original or 3rd party battery at Comex? RDP do not have them at Comex. Buy original from Canon quite ex right?

i have an original grip with 1 ori canon batt and 1 3rd party. Like you, abit worried if problem occurs. Came across a thread earlier about a 3rd party battery expanding inside the cam body and had to dig it out.
So i use 1 battery at a time. If anything goes wrong, its easier to isolate the problem. Only if it doesn't explode in my hands.
Aiyah.. Sorry no experience with LP-E5, so I really can't advise you on price for this.
Our 5DMkII uses LP-E6.
Original $120.
Third party $25.
Heaps of difference in our case here, in terms of price.
No wonder you guys all looking to get 3rd party...
For us Nikon D300s/D700 users,
Original battery = $49
3rd party = $25
So you see for us it makes no sense to go 3rd party.

Hehe... today you learned something new about Canon (again! In addition to the AF point spot metering issue), brother DD!
