Any Blu Ray reader that is region free anyone can recommend?? Thanks a lot!

Anyone?? So far non of the players in Sing is region free, thought dunno whether have region free one on computer....

Simi is region free????

I know there is region free BR consumer player (yes there is), but not for computer.

Anyway for computer, the OS also comes into play, unless you have a BR player program that does not require the drive to be set to a region and can skip the checking of region like what VLC can do for DVDs... As far as I know VLC don't do very well with BRs.

PS3 is also region coded, usually its region1 for local set. Same as USA & Japan.

region means language rite??

You can see the BD region guide line before purchase any BD.
Singapore consider region A same as US.

Europe & Australia consider region B.
If you bought the PS3 in spore only can play BD with region A.
You can read more at

For normally BD player not sure if can play region A,B,C

This company seems to mod blue ray players, http://bluraymods.com/

Look pricey, and not sure how reliable they are.

TS... are you looking for a BluRay Player (for TV in the livingroom) or BluRay Rom (put inside PC) ??

If its for the PC.... get any one you could afford, use AnyDvD HD to hack the software that sets the region on the PC.

I am looking for both actually, anyone that can be region free.

Games are region free, movies are not.

get the oppo bdp-83, not sold locally officially but there's one shop in SLS that import and sell them, there's also recurrent MO at xtremeplace

but its a bit pricey though, if you want something cheaper can try the sherwood bdp-5004 from amazon us http://www.amazon.com/Sherwood-BDP-5004-Blu-ray-Player-Black/dp/B002AQ51VK which is what Im using right now

need to use vpost/borderlink/tarazz though since they dont ship directly to SG

Thanks sandyph on the Sherwood, looks good! I knew about the Oppo one but the crazy price really put me off.

Well, they do have another lower version BDP-80. I believe SLT is the distributor here, so it should be considered official - no?!?. As far as i know the 2 companies are in contact with each other, especially in terms of support as well.
