Is it advisable to buy third parties lens to fit into my canon 450d?

if you like them and within budget why not ???

there are many nice pieces of glass by third party brands...
sigma (30mm1.4,50mm1.4,10-22mm)
tokina (12-24mm)
tamron (17-502.8)
just to name a few.. go to one of the reccomended shops to try out afew.. test and see for urself.. everything you read or hear online will just be other people's opinion...

Cannot afford get 3rd party.
Can afford get Canon.
I do no know why it is that hard a decision to make.
Go to shops and test the lenses.
cannot use third party, 450d will detect a non canon lens and then explode :O
jokes aside, i only use 3rd party lenses now sometimes they can be more reliable than the original brand e.g sigma 50mm 1.4

most of my lenses are third party lenses. i'm happy with them, and the price.
you just need to take note on the QC, that's all.
there are also first party lenses which are problematic - e.g. canon 50mm f/1.4 has issues with motor failure that is well-documented. so it's really not right to say that if you have more money, you should just go for original first party lenses.

And some 3rd party lenses are more expensive than original... Just look at the sigma 50/1.4 vs canon 50/1.4

Some 3rd-party lenses are as good as Canon's at sometimes half the price.
But be sure to read up on the lens reviews from various sources before jumping into any rash purchases just because you heard from somewhere it's good.
And also do a check on the 3rd party lens manufacturer to see if they have a service center in SG, in case you are worried about warranty/servicing, etc.

Very tempted to purchase sigma 50, 1.4 for my Korea trip in Sept but the price is quite high compare to Canon although the review from various website is more favourable to Sigma 50mm. Just curious, not sure anyone will just bring 50mm for travel shooting.:think:
if you are used to it.. it will be no problem at all.. and it will be nice for low light or for indoor places where you can't use flash...
but most of the time ppl travel with zoom lens...
travel with a 50mm prime on a crop body and you'll probably want to kill yourself. i'd suggest you get a UWA really. iamgine missing out nice architecture because you had the wrong lens.
hey all thansk for commenting, i am aiming for 70-300 sigma F/4 -5.6 APO DG MACRO lens, but heard bad reviews on it on a canon 450d . any advice?
