Is addition Flash needed for indoor shooting?

it really depends on whether there is sufficient lighting indoors..
you are being very vague.. care to elaborate??

When you say indoor, do you mean indoor like Suntec City Hall, or Indoor Stadium or your typical 5-room HDB flat?
What lens are you using? Is the 18-105 your only lens? If your lens is fast enough, you might not need the flash. If you are not using a 1.4-2.8 lens chances are you can't catch kids who are running around and pop-up flash simply can't make it. In this case, an external flash would be useful.

I agree . Sometimes a well lighted room may seems ok to our eyes , but more often than not , we get restricted by having to shoot at low shutter speeds.
A flash will provide you with the versatility to fire off at fast shutter speed.
Fast lens may not necessarily be the all and only one solution for indoor shooting.
Why not; you can also flash on bright sunlight without exposing the subject.
The indoor existing light will be variable; while you might be able to shoot with ambient light, the photos might be inconsistent. A flash will fill all the shadows and gives you consistent images that feature the pepole in the party.
do you mean adding a flash OR using a 2nd (slave?) flash in addition to your present existing flash unit?

I suggest using external flash on-camera and bounce the light off the wall. Use TTL mode. Be mindful of the wall colors though. U might not get the correct color on the skin. In indoor shooting, extra lighting will always be good as long as the exposure is correct.
you have to understand first one basic principle: photography is painting with light.
so do you need a flash? depends on the quality, quantity and control you have over the surrounding light. if conditions are far from ideal (this applies both indoor and outdoor), then you may have to introduce another source of light that gives you more control (can bounce off ceiling/wall, attach a diffuser, or get off-cam functionality) than your pop-up. if light is sufficient and ideal (think of a bride standing in front of a window with the sunlight diffused through the curtains), then adding a flash would just ruin it.

if u have a flash, just bring along.
if u dont, just use what u have - boost ur ISO.
if u are using ur kit lens... try taking most of ur pic at the widest end of ur lens. At the widest (usually 18mm), the aperature is widest as well.
move ur human body rather than the lens.
if all fails, put ur camera into ur bag and enjoy the evening.

I think it's necessary.if you dun wanna spend then at least get pop up flash diffuser.it helps a lot.

Most of the time, I needed flash when using indoor...
Unless you wanna risk getting noise by pumping up your ISO.
nothing wrong with pumping up ISO.. its better to have noise then to miss a shot, or spoil a shot with harsh flash in the wrong direction or sth..

Good to get a SB-600/or any hotshoe flash, as it's really fun to play with flash and to learn them.
with a usual 5-room HDB flat, just do bounce flash.
Bouncing flash is simple, EG. if you are shooting landscape, point your flash upwards to shoot on the ceiling for the flash to bounce OFF the ceiling to make the light less harsh (by alot) and making the effect rather nice.
Also, if shooting portrait, point your flash upwards too and bounce flash onto the ceiling.
Bounce flash is always a good thing, never a good thing to direct blast on the subject, might blind the person, and the effect would be (N).
