Fellow CSers, pls pardon these noob Qns...

1) are tripods / monopods / gorillapods allowed for ticketed & seated events like the YOG Opening / Closing ceremonies?
2) what are the appropriate settings if I would like to shoot the fireworks without a tripod (if this is even recommended)?

I'm attending the YOG Opening ceremony tomorrow, and seems there will be awesome fireworks and pyrotechnics. Hoping to snap some nice pics.

Thanks in advance for advice.

I was at the CR4.You can only set up tripod if you're sitting at the 1st row cos the 2nd row onwards the space is too small.Monopod definitely can.But do note that the 1st half of the show, you'll be required to stand up and dance so people in front might block you:)

1) Depends on the organizer, read your tickets and check with the ushers
2) Doubt you can shoot successfully without a tripod.

Ding, the ticket said that no photography was allowed. But almost half the audience were with cameras...

Guess rules are meant to be broken, but don't come crying and complaining if they confiscate your camera ...

Sometimes, bringing in a P&S is better. More subtle.

Cleonbus & Dingaroo, thanks for ur inputs.

T&C states no commercial photography allowed.

I have checked with SISTIC... official reply was tripods / monopods not allowed. I was wondering how strict will they enforce it (of course i will do my part not to obstruct other audience).

ok la, u not doing COMMERCIAL photog what.. its just personal~! like taking pics of ur son or daughter.. lol

someone should invent a quadro-pod, then you can tell the security, that you're not breaking the rules.. only tripod and monopod, never say cannot quad-pod..

but if you do bring then just hide it, and use it when you can..
