b+w filter is so difficult to find in local shops.

b+w filter is so difficult to find in local shops.

Not comparable but closest you can get Hoya ND400 = 9 Stop ==> 1sec * 512

Comparable is LEE filter "Big Stopper" 10 stop:devil::devil::devil:

Hoya ND400 gives a more natural colour. However I'm a huge fan of the effects that B+W can create.

How much does ND filters cost approx? Wanna try venturing into playing with filters.

hoya nd400x.

nd400 is 9 stop, has multicoating.
nd110 is 10 stop, no multicoating.

frankly speaking, i find them on par with each other. after all, both introduce color shifts.

Looking at recent threads in newbies corner & general reviews,
Looks like there is a sudden surge in interest of filters.
Especially NDs and GNDs... Hopefully this will prompt the supplier to supply more...

which lens u are using? and what is the thread size? then u will get the XX to 77 up ring.

if your lens is already 77mm thread size, u dun need step up ring.

TS

Please note that

B+W ND110 is almost 10 stops. and it exhibits a slight yellow cast. (shutter speed * 1000)
Hoya ND400 is slightly over 8.5 stops. and it is cooler than B+W (shutter speed * 400)
Lee big stopper (10 stops) is cooler than B+W also.

thanks for the heads up.
so my lens thread size is as follows

35mm - filter size 52mm
18-105mm - 67mm
17-50mm filter size - 72mm
11-16mm - filter size 77mm

seems that a 62-77mm step up ring would be more appropriate, pls correct me if i am wrong.
