May I know why 50-500? I meant you have try it before? How the i
iq and overall quality compare to the 70-200? I check out the reviews online for 70-200, it seems like the review is being bribe by the manufacturer thus looking for live review from fellow cs gurus
80-200/2.8 is the old version of the 70-200VR.
One touch: the same ring controls both zoom and focus. Push and pull on the ring to adjust focal length, twist the ring to focus.
Two touch: two rings, twist one to control focal length, twist the other one to focus.
Disadvantage: uses screwdrive AF. Slower AF, No VR.
Tokina 50-135/2.8 (nikon mount) is no longer in production. The only version still being produced and sold is the Pentax 50-135/2.8 (manufactured by Tokina, I think. Yes lucky Pentaxians). I am look for one myself but can't find. It gives the FOV of about 75-200mm (35mm equiv). It is smaller and lighter than the 70-200VR. But it does not have VR, and it is bigger than the competition. It does not have focus motor also, and depends on the screwdrive AF. But it has a tripod mount on the lens.
The competition is Sigma 50-150. Smaller and lighter than the Tokina, it has a little more reach, but it is soft wide open from 135mm to 150mm. It does not have OS as well, but has HSM. It doesn't come with a tripod mount, and you cannot add one as well.

Thanks for explaining bro, what alternative do u recommend ? The above 135mm and 150 is kind not enough for my use as occasionally would do some shoot like NDP, concert etc... Vr is certainly important to me. Man tele lens are so much expensive. I saw the 70-300 but review wasn't as good. Once again thanks for the detail explaination. Greatly appreciate it
You can check out the Sigma 70-200/2.8 OS HSM. If VR is not necessary, go for a used Nikon 80-200/2.8
