Hi all,
This is my first time posting in this sub-forum.
I hope you guys can feedback so i can learn from it. =)

1. in what area is critique to be sought?
all aspects (Composition, exposure, pp,etc)

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
To show that its okay to be different from the rest,
and let your hair down and just have some fun.

3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
Around late morning, after a photoshoot at clarke quay.
It was during the break that i spotted two girls playing around in the water.
Yes, they knew that i was capturing these pictures after a while, they smiled in return and even posed for me, but i didnt focus those shots in time tho.

4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
I think this is a rare moment, subject was perfect and im happy to capture the moment.
but perhaps there are some things i can improve on.like framing of shot,exposure,pp,etc.
(i typed etc, not because im lazy to mention the aspects, but because there might be various aspects that im not aware of.)

A much tighter pic of her without the distractions in the BG would be much better. Esp if you can capture her expressions as she was caught by the water falling down on her.

Here I've done a rough edit of the crop I was referring to, if you mind, let me know and I'll remove it.

I think the pillars on the right can be left out also. There's a nice contrast between lady and the background behind her, but the area on the right is pulling attention away.

this crop works better on the expression, but idk if its enough contrast in the bg for what im trying to show.
i was trying to show how simple fun can be if we could just break away from the norm
and do something that others would usually believe as silly or stupid in this busy city.
or
maybe i was trying to include too much elements?

the girl and the mother was staring at her, but by the time i af, gone liao lol.

now, looking at the pic again, the pillars are really a lil distracting..

okay! will take note of that! thx! i was worrying that there wasnt enough contrast between the lady and the bg, thats why i wanted to include some of the clarke quay area in the foreground..
but yea, looks like the pillars are grabbing attention.

I think TS don't want to get his equipment wet, so bo bian, crop would work better I guess. The pillars are quite distracting, so should crop away. The man behind there could provide some nice contrast and story to the photo, but I don't know how well it would work out, go crop and see how

assuming if the family didnt move away, than there is too much space to the left.

now, with what u have here, i will say the pillar is distracting, the man does provide add contrast to the composition. but the contrast is quite flat, use s-curve to pp abit lor.

If you are holding on to a splash-proof camera, go forward and shoot. Don't need to scare the little droplets. Try portrait, it would look perfect.

P.s. i like the girls expression. For this kind of shot, like dunking machine, capture their expresssion. (Y)(Y)(Y)

nope my camera wasnt splash proof. yea maybe i was too afraid of getting close to my subjects. will take note of using portrait to capture their expression the next time. thanks.
