Palm Tree

Hi everyone I'm new to ClubSnap so I decided to put up a photo for critique as my greeting

1. In what area is critique to be sought?
Composition, Post-processing technique

2. What one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
To be honest I was just playing around with zoom blur and the pity palm tree in my house compount became my subject. This came out to be what I think the best among what I shot that day.

3. What the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
Somehow I feel that there's something just not right but I dunno what it is, I guess that's why I put it up here. Overall I love it but still looking for improvement :embrass:

very abstract, don't really see the light. your technique could be put to a better subject...

i think its a good effort.... imho the fatal point is the image not seeming to have any 'direction'

that blurrish streak from middle left to middle top pulled away sufficient attention to be distracting

hey at least you are trying something different..... which is good. But if you're a newbie, get the 'rules' right pat first before you start experimenting ..... this is a unstructured little raving no ?

It was a bored shot that I liked :embrass: I see what u meant about the distraction I failed to notice it thanks! Rules as in rules of third etc?

Doing a zoom blue already blurs out most of the portions outside of focus, which would be at the centre. As such, the centre of the pic should have something err... not so abstract but rather distinct. I can't make out anything from the centre, and can't really tell what it is you're trying to portray from the pic.
