I will be touching on how to get a right exposure from any flash for the portrait
and also how to get the right exposure from the night background lights behind the person.

It is essentially two separate calculations for exposures that makes up one night portrait.

I will explain how I normally take shots with the flash off camera and using a umbrella with the flash to soften the light from the flash to give a more pleasing light on the face.

If there is bad weather, we may retreat to the underpass between borders and the lido cinema to do the portraiture. In that case, i will be using two lights ( flashes ) to do exposure for the person and the background separately.
