Summary:
I did ask Chinl0verZ (Kelvin) where he got these bags from, he informed that his aunt owns a photography accesories shop in taiwan and these Crumpler bags were hand carried in. Well I feel that even if it is really a fake, I'm quite happy with the quality and workmanship of this "AAA Grade Crumpler". Honestly, the only thing that seems wrong of my 7MDH is the "crumpler 7MDH" tag that isn't properly sewn. I feel it is just factory defacts as the details are too well copied for it to be a imitation, that's why he is selling it at a cheaper price. Even if it is an imitation/fake, its just $130 anyway and I feel for that price the quality and workmanship that I'm getting, its worth it. FYI, I'm someone who hates buying fake stuff.

Bottom line is, If you are so scared of fake/imitation/defacts, just get your Crumpler bags from the official distributor. Chinese saying goes, you pay the price for what you get.

Whether or not it is fake, you decide. HTH.

Like what I said, fake or not we don't really know unless there is really some obvious differences. From what I see with my set and the original set, all I'm seeing now is factory defacts which are minor and only visible under close examination.

Of course, if I knew i was getting a "fake", I definitely won't be okay with paying $130. But since I've already bought it, no point crying over spill milk. Afterall like what I said, quality and workmanship wise is still there. We're afterall paying hundreds due to the branding effort that Crumpler has put into it's brand. That's the point I'm trying to drive across.

Just to add, my buckles does not have those chinese branding like the pictures that Sinned79 posted. Anyway, TS, have you already tried contacting chinl0verZ?

It looks real other than the zipper which looks different as compared to the 2 I had as it does not have the crumpler logo.

Hate to tell you. Yours is a fake.

Let chinl0verZ go to the official distributor for a verification check and scan the proof letter to clubsnap Moderator OR meet up with the Moderator, go down together to the official distributor then update us who talking the truth.

That's simple and case close.

Not trying to bash you. But I want to share with CSers on how to spot fake bags. It is not very hard after you know the details. First let me start by saying what looks out of place in the pics of the bag you showed.

The plastic bag packaging is a hint but not a dead giveaway. Most bags are packed with the logo on the plastic bag matching the orientation of how the actually bag is to be seen. This means the crumpler logos on the plastic bag should be upright, it is turned 90 degs. Also, the barcode product ID sticker is missing.

2) The 7MDH in full with "New Velcro Silencer" tag
4804478376_3af268b102.jpg

Look at the center seam going down the front flap of the bag. Where the seam ends is not exactly the middle point of the flap.

4) Crumpler Logo (Seems abit slanted, might be factory defact/reject?)
4804488574_4958ac65be.jpg

You mentioned it yourself, the logo is slanted. And the logo should be sewn with white thread and not black. This is one of the dead giveaways. And the logo looks a little rough on the top inside(can't be sure due to bad picture).

5) Crumpler Logo stitch on Shoulder Pad.
4803862521_769c5d301f.jpg

This is the other obvious giveaway that this is a fake. The Logo stitch on the shoulder pad is very badly done. There is this big Dot thing on the top right corner of the logo with a connecting thread to the "face" of the logo. That is very sloppy embroidery work. This is the dead giveaway. One look at this and I am 100% sure this bag is a fake.

6) Crumpler Zipper
4804506360_bf4efc7cb7.jpg

Looks real with the logo and all. Do not get fooled, it costs a few cents to stamp these zipper pullers out. And the original one do not have a logo there.

7) 7MDH Tagging inside bag (looks not properly sewn, wordings cut out, might be factory defact. The fake 1 posted on lowyat.net has a mis-spelling of "senven" instead of "seven")
4804501458_875f39e138.jpg

This is another dead giveaway. "It is not properly sewn" is an understatement. The edges of the tags are sewn very untidily. The wordings are sewed over.

I keep seeing the word factory defect popping up over and over again. Yes, there are some factory defects from time to time. But do know that there are very seldom instances where the factory has defects in multiple places of the bag. If you spot MORE THAN ONE defect, red flags should pop up in your mind already. If you spot 3 or more defects in different areas of a bag, you can conclude it is a fake (and you will be right 99% of the time).

Also, certain things, defects are just not possible. Like the logo stitch on the shoulder pad, you have to understand the process. The stitch is programmed into the machine, which will do stitch after stitch after stitch without room for error. If such low level errors happen, it cannot be a defect from the factory. It just means it is done in another factory (not crumpler's OEM factory - aka fake).

And Clarenze, kudos to your positive attitude. Just be careful and not get ripped off in the future. This bag costs less than USD$10 to make.

By the way, some may question my knowledge in bags manufacture.

Just know that I have been dealing with custom manufacturing of bags/packaging/garments for the last 5+ years in China. And I know my way around, and pricings and personally do a lot of inspections and QCs.

If you have a bag or strap, or packaging or clothing you want to produce and needs a manufacturer, feel free to PM me as well. I will point you in the right direction if I cannot do it myself.
